midway arcade treasures 1

Strengths: great variety of games

Weakness: some games have poor controls

Midway arcade treasures 1 is a compilation of 24 classic games that are emulated for the X box. if you miss the simple one or two but controls of games from the past when compared to the multi button controllers that we use today, then you will absolutely fall in love with this game. This compilation of brings back classics such as Defender, Joust, Gauntlet, rampage, and smash TV, paperboy ,...

Blast to the past

Strengths: Wide-variety of games; extra features; modifiable settings; excellent ports of classics

Weakness: Hideous game menu; Xbox Live feature limited

Midway Arcade Treasures is a compilation of 24 of the greatest (and some not so great) arcade classics ever developed. The games featured in this collection are true to their original form, and everyone is bound to find a game or two worth playing. All of the original graphics and sounds are intact. Many of the game settings (time, difficulty, etc.) can also be modified. There aren't too many...

Midway Arcade Treasures 1

Strengths: Rampage, Paperboy, Gauntlet, Smash TV

Weakness: Menu system, minor issues in gameplay and sound

At $20 for 24 games, that's less than $1 per game, an exceptional deal! The games are very true to the originals which is great if you remember playing them -- younger audience might not find much to like in this game collection as half of the fun for me is the nostalgia value, and obviously the graphics etc are very "dated" when compared to today's games. If you played these games "back in the...

Midway Arcade Treasures 1

Strengths: Nostalgic, Faithful Reproductions

Weakness: X-Box live is just to upload scores

Midway Arcade Treasures 1 is a blast from the past...literally. These games are from when I was growing up. There are some faithful reproductions here that shouldnt be missed just for their nostalgic value. Games like Joust, Defender, and Spy Hunter are all here, and play exactly like they did years ago. X-Box live is present also, but it is just to upload your scores. It would of been great to...

Midway Arcade Treasures

Strengths: Paperboy

Weakness: None

This game has Paperboy on it. That makes it perfect in everyway, because the original Paperboy is one of the best games ever. Another classic is Super Sprint. You have to appreciate these OLD games to want to buy this. But for $20, it is absolutely worth it.

Midway Arcade Treasures

Strengths: Includes some of Midway's greatest old school arcade hits (SpyHunter, Defender, Gauntlet, Joust, etc.), great history lesson for young players, cheaper/easier than buying old systems and cartridges

Weakness: Also includes many titles you probably won't remember or care about, limited extras, some games don't work well with Xbox controller

Long-time videogame fans will likely remember a great number of the included titles here (24 in all), but given that many of these games are now 20+ years old, you'll quickly be reminded of how far games have come since then. Young players will likely become bored rather quickly, and because Midway didn't include much in the way of extras (see PS2's Activition Anthology for the right way to put...

Midway Arcade Treasures

Strengths: Great classic arcade games, original sounds and a good variety.

Weakness: Graphics are 'original', menu is cumbersome.

Great classic arcade games on the XBOX. An easy game to pick up and play, with nostalgia from the 80's! Games are rendered quite faithfully, so don't expect refined graphics, but still cool. The start menu is wonky, instead of naming each game, it has a symbol you must highlight and then guess which game it belongs to. Overall a good value and a keeper for the collection!

Midway Arcade Treasures

Strengths: Great collection of classic games. Ports are arcade-perfect.

Weakness: Marble Madness and 720 lacks the trackball and Super Sprint just isn't the same without a wheel to spin. Menus are ugly, and video interviews lack production values.

A collection of 20 classic arcade games at a price of $20? This almost seems to good to be true. Add on video interviews with developers and arcade flyers and marquees and you have one nice collection of classic games. Included in the collection are 720, Blaster, Bubbles, Defender, Defender II (Stargate), Gauntlet, Joust, Joust 2, Klax, Marble Madness, Paperboy, Rampage, Rampart, Roadblasters,...

Midway Arcade Treasures

Strengths: Lots of fun old arcade goodness, online scoreboards

Weakness: Graphics get a little choppy at times, some games don't work well with the XBox controller

24 old school arcade games show up in this nice compilation, with some nice classics like Defender, Gauntlet, Smash TV, Spy Hunter, as well as some odd ones as Toobin and 720*. One big problem is some of the games don't work well with the XBox controller, like Marble Madness, though it had a specialized trackball controller. A few more games like Paperboy are in the same boat. Some of the games...

Midway Arcade Treasures

I spent far too much time and money amongst the eerie digital glow of these games during my high school years. Every Friday and Saturday night (some weekday afternoons!) found me in a noisy Putt Putt arcade in my small town. Plopping in tokens and lamenting the time when they would run out. Sometimes, I would attract a crowd as people wanted to see "that game" beaten into submission. Sometimes, I...

Midway Arcade Treasures (xbox)

It's one of the great tragedies of modern gaming that retro game compilations are so carelessly thrown together. The vast majority of them seem like quick 'n dirty cash runs by the companies that own the classic properties. Seldom is much effort put into adding extras, such as relevant historical materials or tips 'n tricks info, or even perfect emulation. Midway Arcade Treasures is guilty of...
