Syberia (Xbox)

Strengths: (1) Provides a different experience as opposed to typical console game (2) Interesting story (3) Unique art style gives world and environments a feeling that they could really exist

Weakness: (1) Slow, plodding, aged gameplay is not for everyone (2) Will look messed up on HDTVs unless you disable 1080i and 720p HD settings on XBOX (can leave 420p on)

Syberia's gameplay harkens back to Adventure games, such as Sierra's King's Quest and Space Quest series. While this genre has seen it's popularity soar in the PC market years ago, it has rarely been brought to home consoles. As such, this game is really for a certain type of gamer. It is more of a slower paced, interactive story where you move through a very linear path, accomplishing simple...

Syberia

Strengths: Great graphics, excellent story, interesting gameworld

Weakness: Slow gameplay (point and click adventure), difficult game interface, poor voice acting

I seem to have barely scratched the surface of this game, but the story is engaging and very rewarding. The gameplay is slow (just by nature of the game-type), but if you can get past that, the game is very charming. This is a game that requires quite a bit of thought for solving puzzles and mysteries. Sometimes it's difficult to figure out what to do next, but this is the exception more than the...

Syberia

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: Story line and everything else

This game does have excellent graphics. The problem is that's pretty much all it has going for it. The story line to this game is lame, and cliched. It's unfortunate too, because the Xbox needs more good RPGs.

Good adventure game

Strengths: Great, detailed prerendered backgrounds

Weakness: some hard puzzles

Ah, adventure games. A game of a dying breed, Syberia is a breath of fresh air. For fans of Myst, or old Lucas Arts adventure games such as Sam and Max or Day of the Tentacle, this will be right up your ally. Really good puzzles keep the player involved, while the story keeps things rolling. Only problem I see is some players might say "where's the action," or get stumped by a puzzle. But really,...

Syberia

Strengths: Solid graphics, good and engaging characters.

Weakness: A pc adventure game mapped onto a video game: controls, controls, controls!

The Resident Evil series have taken some serious criticism because the characters move so awkward and woodenly. Syberia has inherited perhaps an even more awkward control setup. Moving across the screen can be very slow, and turning in tight spaces frustrating at times. Further, when entering a room, sometimes up suddenly becomes down or the character turns herself around. But I kept playing...

Syberia

Strengths: Story line & Graphics

Weakness: Some poor character voice acting

I played the PC version- and wished that I could have played it on the XBOX instead. The story is compelling- the visuals are stunning. My biggest complaint is that the action can become a little stagnant as you wait for you characted to walk across the screen. I am eagerly waiting for Syberia 2- coming out this Winter!

Syberia

Strengths: Great mystery, story , and Graphics

Weakness: Not really made for consoles

Syberia for X-Box is a port of the Point and Click adventure made for PC a few years before this was released. It is very slow paced and involves alot of searching the screen for clues that may be too small for the average player to see. It controls too still with the gamepad, as this type of game is made for mouse movement. If you could get past the fact that it is a port of a PC game, and you...

Syberia

Strengths: Graphics, adventure genre

Weakness: Slow character movement

Personally, I enjoy the old Myst games and all sorts of adventure type games. Syberia fits prefectly into this category. Walk around, solve puzzles and move on to the next one. My biggest complaint about this game is the main characters slow movements. It is hard to get her to move from one place to another in any decent amount of time. However, other than that, the game play was just as I had...

Review for Syberia.

Strengths: Nice graphics, spoken dialogue, pretty straightforward puzzles. Cool cinematic cutscenes.

Weakness: Point and click control too sensitive with controller, too many "invisible" walls, icon "hotspots" not always easy to point to with, may be too slow for those not into graphic adventures.

This is a definite throwback to the good point and click graphic adventure games of Lucasarts and Monkey Island. If you're into those kind of games, you know exactly what to expect, lots of dialogue, lots of reading clues, lots of "find the part" puzzles. If you're don't like the graphic adventure games of old, then this one won't change your mind, as there is no action and slow pace as typical...

Syberia (Xbox)

Strengths: Good graphics and sounds, good storyline,

Weakness: Controls are a bit clunky, voice acting is passable

Syberia is an adventure game, ported over from the PC. It involves Kate on a quest to find out what has happened with a toymaker and his inventions. The game looks good and sounds good, though the voice acting has some good and bad moments. The controls are a bit hard to use, due to the console conversion, though it takes a bit to get used to. Adventure fans should take a look at this game.

Syberia (xbox)

Syberia is a return to times of old. A PC adventure appearing in ported form on the Xbox, Syberia retains the point and click aspects of games like Grim Fandango, Curse of Monkey Island, and Myst. It's odd that a game with such an antiquated interface is appearing on the Xbox. A purebred adventure, Syberia relies on its immersive story to captivate gamers rather than flashy explosions and...

Syberia (xbox)

A loyal throng of PC gamers adore the endangered species that is the graphic adventure, but as pointed out in a feature on this very website, the genre is a relic of the '80s, when point-and-click interfaces were considered cutting-edge technology. As hardware and game design evolved, non-interactive 2D backdrops were supplanted by interactive 3D worlds, and the puzzle-solving and storytelling...
