Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: One of the best storylines and cinematics of recent memory, very interesting characters, great graphics and sound, good action, interesting spin on an action title, almost like acting in a movie

Weakness: None

It's hard to call Beyond Good and Evil a game, it's more like an interactive movie for all of what is packaged together. A game with one of the most interesting and deep storylines that has been put out in quite some time is the highlight of this game, with many levels of plot and intrigue. It's not a pure action title, with one part of the game involving snapping pictures of the local wildlife,...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: Quirky characters, compelling story

Weakness: Not as great as everyone says it is.

I enjoyed this game overall. Sections were a little boring, and there is one really annoying boss type of battle where you have to launch your boat up in the air and shoot at this giant worm- it took me over 45 minutes to beat it (in one try). The levels are interesting, but not terribly memorable. I loved the idea of finding things to photograph for money- that was a lot of fun- but the overall...

Great game, great price.

Strengths: It's satisfying, fun, intriguing... and cheap.

Weakness: Not too long; meant to be the start of a trilogy that will likely never be finished.

For some reason, Beyond Good and Evil just didn't sell. Maybe it's because Ubi never advertised it, or because it doesn't contain recognizable characters. Still, this Zelda-with-photography adventure is a lot of fun, and got universally great reviews. This is one of them. And since the game was a failure sales-wise, you can find it way cheaper than it should be. Buy it.

Really good, but not great

Strengths: Good storyline, good controls, lots of variety

Weakness: Pretty short, there probably won't be a sequel

Beyond Good & Evil is perhaps the best Zelda-clone of all time. Ubi Soft has taken all the things that make the Zelda games great and thrown them into a new universe. The game is set in a futuristic society where a large corporation/government is trying to gain complete control. Your character's name is Jade and you are a reporter set on exposing the conspiracies that are leading to the...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: Good Story Line and Gameplay. Graphics

Weakness: Limited Replayability. Not too long.

Great game to pick up for the Xbox. There's really nothing else on the Xbox which can compare. The game has outstanding graphics (Prince of Persia used the same graphics engine), a great storyline which grabs you and has a nice blend of humor as well. The game has some Zelda-esque qualities to it which will make you want to keep playing it until you finish. The game isn't very long, but...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: Superb graphics, sound and story, great adventure game along the lines of Zelda and Star Fox Adventures.

Weakness: Too short.

Beyond Good and Evil is one of those rare games that gets great critical acclaim but tanks at the retail. I remember this game getting high praise before it was released but no one picked it up at launch. I think Ubisoft paniced and decided to immediately lower the price to $19.99 within a couple of weeks. It still didn't sell. Blame it on bad marketing, blame it on a video game that was already...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: Graphics

I over looked this game when it first came out. I over-heard someone saying that this was a good game. I checked it out, and I fell in love with it. Its basic, simple, and easy to get into. It's a one button fighting system and all but somehow it worked really well. Anyways, its kind of easy, but it does get kinda hard in a few areas. Anyways, graphics were nice, voice overs were nice, characters...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: Made by UbiSoft!, compelling storyline, stellar graphics, well-designed levels, great character development

Weakness: Somewhat short gameplay, not well purchased by gamers (meaning no sequel), and no replay value

This is one of those sleeper-hit titles that are made but not purchased. This is one of the best single player games that you will find made for the XBox. The graphics, storyline, cinematics, and gameplay all combine to create a genre that is not a cookie-cutter FPS, RPG, platformer, or action/adventure title. It blends the best from several different genres, creating a game that you may stay...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: The best game you're not playing, smart story and characters, mix of stealth and action adventure genres, unique cartoon-based graphics, good voice acting, cheap to purchase

Weakness: Mainstream consumers completely ignored this title, too short for its own good, unlikely to receive a sequel due to poor retail sales, limited replay value

Beyond Good and Evil came out during the holiday season of 2003, and most people missed out on it due to hype for the many higher profile titles that came out then. Gaming magazines and web sites frequently called it "the best game you're not playing" and compared it favorably to the best platforming games of its day, and the title quickly saw its retail price slashed substantially within weeks...

Beyond Good and Evil

Strengths: Engaging story. Great action-adventure gaming experience.

Weakness: A bit short. Limited replay value.

Beyond Good & Evil is a stylish complex action-adventure game with an involving plot and believable characters. It's too bad that many people overlooked this gem of a game. The game itself is a nice mix of action and adventure elements. Many have compared the style to Zelda and it's a good comparison. The graphics are stylish and well-done. The audio is good as well with good voice acting and...

Meet Jade. Shes a brunette beauty with an eye for mystery and a camera to uncover it. When the would-be heroines futuristic planet is threatened by aliens, Jade finds herself thrust into the heart of a vicious conspiracy that could stretch to the very top of her government. This stylized, extremely gorgeous third-person action-adventure plays very much like a Zelda game. Jade can explore a huge,...

Take a trip down memory lane with me, hardcore gamers. Do you remember the time you picked up a controller to play an RPG for the very first time? Do you recall the way you felt the minute you discovered that this wasn’t going to be the usual shoot-to-kill action game but an altogether new experience with characters and a story that hooked you to the point that you just had to continue playing...
