NHL 2004 PS2

Strengths: Realistic, smooth play.

Weakness: Have to play other ea sports games for unlockables

This game is a step up from older hockey games. It is realistic in many aspects of hockey and in fighting which is much better than older versions of this game that I have played. It offers many options that are fun like the dynasty mode. One shortcoming is that you have to play other ea sports games like basketball or football that people may not be interested in to unlock some features....

NHL 2004

Strengths: Graphics, game play, sound, fights

Weakness: None

NHL 2004 is the best hockey game I have played in a long time. The graphics are phenomenal for the PS2 system and the sound is also great. The commentary is fun and enjoyable and the bone crushing checks and hard slap shots all sound fantastic. The game play is smooth and arcade-like, but it should not turn off most of the simulation fans either. The fighting system is what I enjoyed the most,...

NHL 2004 for the PS2

Strengths: + Great graphics

Weakness: - Not as good as ESPN NHL Hockey

NHL 2004 is a fun game, but it's nothing great. It's got pretty dang good graphics, but it doesn't match up to EPSN NHL Hockey when it comes to gameplay, commentary, modes, etc. The puck physics feel a little "floaty", but that's been a problem for nearly every hockey game ever made. One thing that is particularly satisfying is the fights and bone-crunching hits that one can give the opposing...

NHL 2004 PS2

Strengths: Gameplay; graphics

Weakness: hard to score

EA sports delivered hard-hitting NHL action with NHL 2004. The best feature of the game is the Dynasty Mode. It allows you to play general manager for up to 20 seasons and earn a spot in the GM Hall of Fame as you negotiate contracts, conduct drafts and make deals.

NHL 2004

Looking at the new lineup of sports games every year has become a matter of evaluation by degrees. Franchises from each major publisher have evolved to the point where total newcomers can expect to be fairly impressed, and returning gamers always have to wonder, Is the upgrade worth it? It's time for hockey fans to open their wallets, because EA has made sure the answer is yes, with a fully...

NHL 2004

It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride for diehard fans of EA's NHL hockey franchise. After the outstanding NHL 2002 hit in the fall of 2001, hockey fans thought they had nowhere to go but up from there. But NHL 2003 left a bad taste in the mouths of longtime fans because of a looser, more arcadey approach. The threat from Midway's NHL Hitz was taken that seriously.
