Breakdown Xbox

Strengths: Graphics, sound, story.

Weakness: Gameplay

I bought this game after hearing my friends rave about the story and how it's like no other sci-fi plot I've ever seen or read. So I picked it up not expecting much and thinking it'll be another FPS. Boy was I wrong, from the get go you'll be absorbed into the game and it helps that it's a really good looking game too. The gameplay itself can be a little boring at times since the AI is not that...

Breakdown Xbox

Strengths: Great Story, Innovative Gameplay, Addicting

Weakness: Weak Sound, Decent Graphics, Some Noticable Glitches

Breakdown is a brand new experience that has been introduced by the Japanese developer Namco. The story is told in complete first-person perspective. There are one or two cut-scenes, but for the most part, you never leave your character's view. I won't ruin the story for you, but I will tell you, it is one of the best I have ever played. This game could easily be translated into a movie and be a...

Breakdown Xbox

Strengths: Unique first-person sequences and hand-to-hand combat mode

Weakness: Weak storyline; underdeveloped main character

This game has many novel ideas that the developers didn't do a decent job with. The weapons you'll use are basic, ranging from a pistol to a laser weapon, but relatively inefficient in doing damage to enemies. The enemy AI is weak and ineffective, unless they surround you with sheer numbers. Overall, the game seemed underdeveloped, given the content that was used.

Breakdown Xbox

Strengths: The completely first-person view is a nice change, graphics are good, immersive and thrilling storyline, good voice acting

Weakness: Needing to manually pick up inventory gets a little old, XBox exclusive, complete first person experience takes a little getting used to

First person is taken to a new level in this game, as /everything/ is first person, including looking around, climbing and jumping, as well as picking up inventory. It makes for a very immersive experience, though it can be a little disconserting at times, due to the complete first person perspective. Needing to do an inventory action to pick up inventory gets a little old after the first bunch...

Breakdown Xbox

Strengths: Fun and addictive.

Weakness: It's hard to see whats going on with your gun in the way.

I do not have this game but I have played the demo and it was fun. it has a strange story line and I have heard that it dosn't really get interesting untill the last half of the game but i hope to purchase this game soon.

Breakdown

Strengths: Graphics, storyline, voice acting

Weakness: Slow in the beginning

Breakdown is an action game/FPS that starts out slowly, but is carried along by its excellent storyline. At the beginning of the game, you wake up in an enclosed room with no recollection of how you got there and what is going on. Armed with only your fists, a girl helps you to get out of the room, where you are promptly attacked by soldiers with guns and other weapons. This may not sound like a...

Breakdown

Strengths: Unique FPS. Story.

Weakness: Difficulty level may be too hard for some.

Breakdown is played from a first person perspective, but it's not the typical first person shooter. Instead there is a heavy focus on hand to hand combat. The unusual gameplay may take some getting used to but the experience is well worth it as there is an excellent story an intense action. Solid production values and graphics round out a true sleeper hit for the Xbox.

Namco enters the FPS game genre, with interesting...

Strengths: A FPS (First Person Shooter) game with elements of hand-to-hand combat, a great and intriguing storyline as well as superb sound, music and voice acting.

Weakness: Slightly flawed gameplay instances: Picking up items manually, using firearms and sometimes shoddy glitch instances.

To tell the truth, I honestly did not know what to expect from Namco's very first outing in the FPS genre, especially when I heard about the hand-to-hand combat aspect of the game. Little did I know that I was in for a surprise that was wrapped in a nice little pretty package, but ultimately left a somewhat bad aftertaste in my pallete. This game is not too bad, but the programmers and scenario...

First Person Shenmue

Strengths: Awesome story and characters. Fun gameplay and excellent graphics.

Weakness: No online, multiplayer or co-op. Controls are a little different than most FPS. Difficulty.

Breakdown is a futuristic First Person Shooter similar the The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butchers Bay. Not only do you shoot in this game but, like in Riddick, you can punch people as well. The hand to had combat is really well done in this game and you can pull off some cool combonation moves. The game feels and controls a little different from other FPS. When you are using a gun, you...

unique game

Strengths: unique storyline, interesting gameplay

Weakness: a little rough around the edges

Uses the first person view for a more action/adventure type of game. It has a intruiging plot and good story, although some of the game gets a little tedious. I find that with almost all games I play though. All in all, it is a highly underrated game and one worth picking up, especially with the budget price tag it now has.

  GameSpy - Mar 19, 2004

Breakdown

Breakdown is a weird, and on occasion a wonderful twist on the heavily saturated first-person shooter genre. Namco offers Xbox gamers the chance to take on the role of Derrick Cole who's suffering from a bad case of amnesia and an even worse case of inexplicable why-the-hell-are-my-veins-glowing-yellow type nonsense. Taking a vast number of cues from the likes of Half-Life, Trespasser, and a...

Breakdown

If you‘re an old-school gamers--such as myself--you might recall a side-scrolling first-person arcade brawler called The Super Spy that was not only innovative but pretty fun as well. While the demand for first-person fighting games took a backseat to the much loved first-person shooter, gamers couldn’t help but cheer the news that Namco has decided to revive a brawling game that is seen...

Breakdown

Don't you hate it when a movie trailer is ten times better than the movie? There's nothing worse than being hyped for a flick four months in advance only for the finished product to be a poorly assembled mess. Namco's Breakdown may be the case of one of the first video games to totally astound with its trailer only to come up very short with the finished product. It's a great idea, to create a...
