Great Game!

Strengths: enough in this game to keep any kid busy for days.

Weakness: slow moving and hard.

It is a game with wonderful graphics (at least for GBA). It is also reasonably priced. However, for me it was kind of boring and a let down. Since I like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 so much I thought I would like this, but I was wrong. But if you're into both video games and skateboarding then this game would not be such a horribble choice.

Tony Hawk’s Underground

Strengths: Graphics, game play, sound

Weakness: None

Tony Hawk’s Underground for the GBA looks and plays great for a handheld game. The action and tricks are fluid and the action never skips a beat. The graphics are solid and so is the sound. The game play is great depending on whichever mode you select: arcade or story mode. Each has its own goals and objectives and there are also numerous unlockables. Also, they incorporated some multiplayer...

THUG

Strengths: A decent time killer

Weakness: Moves are hard to pull off with the d-pad, 3/4 view is too much of a hinderance

Tony Hawk's Underground is the kind of game that screams 'for fans only'. Activision had to understandly cut many corners for the GBA port but the 3/4 perspective does not work well and using the pad to pull off moves is too cumbersome. With sub-par graphics and sound, THUG is only good to waste some time if nothing else is around to play.

Tony Hawk on the very small screen

Strengths: Fun Tony Hawk gameplay, great change of pace in the series.

Weakness: GBA hardware limits the sound and graphics. Short story mode.

Seeing the new installment of the Tony Hawk series integrate a story mode in the first installment of the Underground was a nice change of pace that seemed to give some reason for skating the town red. The classic Tony Hawk controls are modified a little for the 4 button portable, but it's still easy to control and very fun to play. The capabilities of the hardware in the graphics and sound...

Tony Hawk's Underground

Strengths: Fun gameplay, story mode and creating your own skater, Tony Hawk in portable format.

Weakness: Dissapointing if you're expecting to play the console version, controls not as intuitive, subpar graphics and sound.

Given the limitations of the GBA hardware, I'm surprised Activision was able to squeeze Tony Hawk into a portable format. The game is played in in a 3/4 perspective and the graphics are rather bland. The sound isn't so good either (I miss the licensed tracks of its big brother). The controls are a little different on the GBA but you get used to it after a while. You basically have to create your...

Tony Hawk's Underground

Strengths: The Tony Hawk experience recreated on the Gameboy Advance

Weakness: Music is annoying/repetative, controls take a lot to get used to

Tony Hawk's Underground for the GBA is fantastic! You start from scratch, creating you own custom skateboarder, then you hit the streets learning tricks and making your way up the ranks. Impress some of the top skaters of the world, then they'll teach you tricks or help you advance along on your journey to the top. Addictive gameplay and huge variety of moves, keeps the game going and going. Pick...

Tony Hawk's Underground

Strengths: Great graphics and gameplay

Weakness: Not enough game levels

Tony Hawk's Underground is the 5th Tony Hawk game to be released for Gameboy Advance. Just like the other games in the series, Tony Hawk's Underground does not those looking to skate on their Gameboy Advance system. The game is half 2D and half 3D with an isometric perspective. This allows the game to be designed and played just like the console versions of the game with the same name. The design...

Tony Hawk's Underground

Strengths: The skater animation is nice, There are a variety of tasks to do in story mode

Weakness: In the tutorial, I think it does not explain the basics well enough, graphics are icky

I was surprised how similar the controls are to the console versions, except you are seeing everything from a top down view. It's rather impressive for a handheld. I always have trouble with Tony Hawk games, so I was hoping for a tutorial that would hold my beginner's hand until I got the moves down. Sadly, I found the help lacking. The instructions on what my skate tutor wanted out of me were...

Tony Hawk's Underground

Strengths: 10 different skate parks to play, 17 differnt skaters to play as, create a skater & board modes

Weakness: non I can think of

While they can not bring the same exact experience of playing Tony Hawk's Underground on the GameBoy Advance as you would get on any of the console systems the developers Vicarious Visions have done a fantastic job of doing what they can for Tony Hawk's Underground with the hardware that is the GameBoy Advance. Like other Tony Hawk Skater games on the GameBoy Advance you will still be skating...

Tony Hawk's Underground

Strengths: Well done game, well transfered to the game boy

Weakness: Not as good as the console versions, obviously, hard to get used the controls after playing the console version

This game is impressive in that it manages to maintain a lot of the console version in a portable game. I find tony hawk games are more difficult with the control scheme that you are forced with on the GBA SP, and that reduces the quality of the game somewhat, but it still manages to include most everything from the console version. A very fun game with a lot of things to do and a long time to do...

Tony Hawks Underground

In the opening paragraph of my review of last year's GBA Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, I said that I fully expected the franchise to be on its last wheels. It seemed ready to bail. Of course, I was wrong. The handheld THPS4 kicked butt. Now fast forward to this year. The early press was that Tony Hawk's Underground would have a heavy Grand Theft Auto vibe to it, and it's never a good sign when an...
