Boktai

Strengths: Original gameplay, fun

This game is pretty excellent. I am a recluse and it made me get out in the sun. The best part of the game is its originality. A lot of games these days are straight ripoffs, but boktai comes up with an original aspect to add to the genre, light sensitivity. Great game overall.

Go play in the sun

Strengths: Neat sun-activated features make game interesting

Weakness: Without the sun sensor, this would be a generic RPG

At it's core, Boktai is a fairly standard RPG with a gimmick attacked. That gimmick, however, makes it stand out considerably. Attached to the top of the cartridge is a light sensor that affects how the game plays. The sun recharges the main character's weapon, which means you'll want to out in the sun when you play. It's not as much of a hassle as it seems, as it doesn't have to be direct...

Interesting, but not recommended

Strengths: Creative idea of incorporating sunlight into gameplay

Weakness: Inconvenience related to need for sunlight

I picked this title up because it is now extremely cheap, and because I was curious how the sunlight sensor worked for game play. While use of sunlight to charge your solar gun is interesting, it's not terribly practical. I like to play my GBA games on the Game Boy Player -- not an option here. Also, for those who have classes or work during the day, the need for sunlight is inconvenient at best....

Boktai

Strengths: Gameplay

Weakness: Need sunlight

Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hands is a game by one of the great names in gaming, Hideo Kojima. Kojima's fame comes from classic games like Snatcher and the hugely popular Metal Gear games. Bokati, is in a sense, a rapid departure from gritty scifi influenced areas to a fantasy vampire game. The kicker is that the game has a solar light sensor on the cart, making real-life sunlight a necessity...

Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand

Strengths: Creative use of solar sensor, great action/RPG gameplay, nice graphics and sound

Weakness: Having to play outside to fully appreciate the game can be somewhat annoying

Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand is an excellent action/RPG for the Gameboy Advance that incorporates an innovative solar sensor. This sensor changes the environments in the game from night to day and also charges your characters weapon. Since the storyline involves battling vampires and the undead, it makes sense that sunlight would be a powerful weapon. The graphics in this game are really good...

Bokati

Strengths: Innovative 'solar gameplay'

Weakness: Rainy/cloudy days

Boktai: The Sun is in you hands is an innovative adventure game from the mind of Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series. The selling point of this title is the special cart that requires you to play outside to charge your weapon with solar light. Even without it's solar gimmick, Boktai stills boasts beautiful art and game design that harkens back to the classic 16-bit adventure titles....

A sunny gem

Strengths: Cool, innovative gameplay, Hideo Kojima

Weakness: REQUIRES sunlight to play

This is a truly awesome game by the legendary game designer Hideo Kojima. The game includes a special sunlight sensor that directly affects your character in the game (and no, you can't trick it with a lamp, it has to be actual sunlight). The only real problem with the game is that it REQUIRES you to basically be outside to play it... means if you live in Alaska, its going to get old real fast....

Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand

Strengths: Great idea involving the sun, dosen't feel like a cheesy gimmick

Weakness: On the other hand, the sun can actually be a bad thing.. espically when it's not out!

Boktai, made by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, is a unique twist on the action rpg genre. By needing the sun to "power up" your weapons, it actually is a pretty clever twist. A special sensor on the catridge picks up the sunlight that you apply to your weapons. The game is pretty clever, and it's worth trying out based on it's special gimmick alone.

Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand

Strengths: Innovative gameplay by the creator of Metal Gear series.

Weakness: Sound and you need sunlight to play most of the game.

Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand is a action/adventure game for Gameboy Advance. You play as a vampire hunters son out to hunt some undead meanies. Your weapon of choice is your Gun del Sol. The gimmick to this gun is that it uses real sunlight to charge up via a solar sensor on the game cartridge. This also brings up the main flaw to the game. You need real sunlight to play this game. If its dark...

Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand

Strengths: Innovation that actually adds to the gameplay, great story and characters

Weakness: Harder to play without the sun, but still fun

One of the more innovative games to come along for the Gameboy Advance, Boktai offers a great story and adds a little gimmick to make things even more interesting. The main character is Django and he fights immortal enemies that can only be damaged by the sun. Fortunately for him, he has such a specialized weapon, the gun del sol which harnesses the power of the sun. The most intriguing thing...
