Great Alternative to Street Fighter/King of Fighters

Strengths: Fast paced fighting, lots of great quirky characters with great animation.

Weakness: Not very storied, but it's a fighting game, what can you expect?

Being a long time casual fan of the Street Fighter's latest incarnation, Third Strike, I had some doubt when I first heard about the Guilty Gear series. Boy was I wrong. The first thing you'll notice is the fantastic looking characters and animation. Everything looks very clean and sharp. I think it's the best looking 2d fighter out there today, although that isn't saying much. As for the...

Guilty Gear X2 PS2

Strengths: Great Graphics, Great Gameplay

Weakness: None

This is a great fighting game that can be easily overlooked. Do not be fooled. This is not some so-so, average fighting game. This game, in my opinion, is one of the best 2-D fighting games ever made. I was hesitant at picking this game up at first, but in the end I was satisfied with my purchase. Be sure to pick this up to add to your collection.

Guilty Gear X2 PS2

Strengths: Awesome fighting, beautiful graphics, Very good soundtrack

Weakness: Nothing at all

Guilty Gear X2 is a little known fighting game that is actually probably the best fighting game ever made. The graphics are beautiful as they are high resolution 2D graphics that really bring the characters and stages to life. The sound effects are fitting and the music, composed mainly of hard rock, is also very good and fits the game's attitude and flair very well. The gameplay is fantastic --...

Spoiler: Faust is Doctor Baldhead

Strengths: hi res, great characters

Weakness: not the updated GGX2#R version

Guilty Gear is definitely one of the stranger 2D fighters, maybe a bit influenced by Darkstalkers and Marvel vs Capcom, if anything, but it has great gameplay and interesting (and extremely different) characters. It's not the newest or coolest version, but it's still excellent and worth the money.

One of the best 2D fighting games on the PS2

Strengths: Fast and responsive gameplay. Large cast of characters. Great unlockables. Anime style characters

Weakness: I-No is cheap

Guilty Gear X2 is a great 2D fighting game that was ported to the PS2. With a large variety of characters (more versions through unlockables) to play, I spent many an hour mastering the intracacies of every character (including EX and Gold Mode). The gameplay and controls are similar to other 2D fighting games. The anime style and graphics are top notch. Street Fighter should emulate the...

If it has an "X" in it, it has to be good

Strengths: Colorful, fast, deep combo system

Weakness: cheap end boss

Now this is a fighting game! GGX2 has a great selection of characters and enough to keep you going for months. The GGX2 storyline, while not on par with Street Fighter and King of the Fighters, is interesting nonetheless. The game features a full story mode for each character and a in depth training mode. The character's names are a play on rock bands and the soundtrack is absolutely one of the...

Guilty Gear X2 PS2

Strengths: Rich and colorful graphics, great rock soundtrack, unique fighters

Weakness: Somewhat steep learning curve for anyone unfamilar with 2D fighters

Guilty Gear X2 is a truly unique game that has a lot to offer 2D fighting fans. The fighting system is deep and relies more on counter-moves than massive combos. The graphic style is perfect for a 2D fighter and the characters and backgrounds are very detailed. The heavy-metal soundtrack fits this game perfectly. GGX2 is perfect for anyone looking for a different fighting game out of the...

Guilty Gear X2 PS2

Strengths: Beautiful 2D graphics, deep gameplay, excellent soundtrack

Weakness: None

Guilty Gear X2 is possibly the best 2D fighter to date. GGX2 sports extremely fast yet deep gameplay, and the various gameplay modes and difficulty settings allow for anyone of any skill level to get into the game. The graphics are done in beautiful hi-res with great character animation. The creative, sometimes wacky, character designs mesh well the over-the-top heavy metal soundtrack and bizarre...

Guilty Gear X2 PS2

Strengths: Excellent graphics with unique character design

Weakness: Nothing I can think of

Guilty Gear X2 is a cult favorite as far as fighting games go and is one that should be tried by every fan of 2D fighters. Guilty Gear X2 is a 2D fighting game with a more complex fighting system then other games like it and is probably part of the reason why it has never taken off as much so mainstream. You can choose from a cast of 20+ character to play as and master. I would highly suggest you...

Guilty Gear X2 PS2

Strengths: Nice anime-style graphics, excellent rock soundtrack, high replay value

Weakness: No weaknesses as a fighting game.

Guilty Gear X2 for the Playstation 2 is a great fighting game. The first thing you'll notice when you play this title is the awesome anime-style graphics. The backgrounds really look great as do each individual character. The second thing you'll probably notice is the rock styled soundtrack. It really complements the innovative and fast gameplay. If you can get a second player to enjoy this game...

Guilty Gear X2

Guilty Gear X was a bit of an odd duck. Besides being the first high-res 2D video game, it was the sequel to a relatively unsung PSOne fighter, and developed by an outsider with almost no prior experience in the insular field of 2D fighting games. Despite this, GGX was like a breath of fresh air in a relatively stagnant fighting landscape. It didn't play like a Capcom game. It didn't play like an...

Guilty Gear X2

I've never understood why Arc System Works' 2D fighting extravaganza Guilty Gear has never taken off in the States. It has everything a great two-dimensional fighting game is supposed to have, after all, and what business is it of America to deny such a great series the spotlight? It's sad really, as 3D fighters now completely dominate the market with waning genre efforts from Playmore and...
