AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: Have benchmarked processor speed, math co-processor, etc. XP2200+ Rates very good, operating temps. around 121 degrees Fahrenheit.

Weakness: No weaknesses in 6 months of operation.

Overall - one of the smoothest operating XP's to date. Have not encountered any problems with overheating, although no attempts have been made to overclock this processor. I have built two systems with this processor, utilizing Thermaltake's Volcano 7+ copper heatsink/fan combination. This probably alleviates some of the high temp. operating quirks I am sometimes told about.

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: Good value for money

Weakness: None so far

Built a system using an Athlon XP 2200+ Using a Gagabyte GA-7VAX Mainboard and a Cooler Master V62 fan.Unlike what I ahve read about overheating problems the CPU runs at an average temperature of 43 o C Have had no problems with it to date. Use (Dell)Intel Pentium 4 2.4 ghz Computers at work and believe me the XP 2200+ outperforms the Pentium 4 every day !!!

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: excellent performance/cost ratio

Weakness: stock heat sink and fan are not sufficient unless you work in a seriously airconditioned building, have huge case fans, and keep the cpu idle a lot.

Probably best performance/cost ratio for an XP with the 2400+ as a close second. If you don't overclock, get the retail version with the 3 year guarantee and then buy a big heatsink/fan.

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: Ease of use, overcklocking is a dream.

Weakness: Needs Two additional case fans.

great Processor , I don't understand why some magazines say AMD plays numbers game- Anyone can run it @ 2250 MHZ easy. I Have it At 2000 Mhz. Runs GREAT! I would deffinetly recommend it to anyone espessially gamers.

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: Price/performance ratio

Weakness: core size is small. difficult heat transfer.

You do need a good, copper-core heat sink, and a worthy fan. But compared to a 2gig+ Intel P4, the XP 2200+ ROCKS! And you can buy this chip for a fraction of a P4 2.5 gig, which is what you'd have to buy to beat this chip. And even then, you would need more expensive Rdram with the P4, or you're wasting your money. This XP2200+ is the most bang for the buck. Don't buy the 2100+. The 2200 has the...

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: The processor it self i would rate highly as for heat sink and fan a deffinate no no

Weakness: over heating to such a degree that new heat sinks and system fans will be required

to up grade a system or build your own why pay extra for a heat sink and fan and a three year warrenty when the supplied heat sink and fan is not adaquet to run the processer at its advised setting of 1.8Ghz with out over heating the processer to 60 degress c or plus surely it is a grave error on AMDS part not to supply a heat sink and fan that is up to the job. to bye a package of processor,heat...

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: Great speed to price ratio. Will easily out-perform an Intel machine at 2200Mhz.

Weakness: None.

I have built many machines, most with AMD processors and several with Intel processors. There is no need to purchase any other processor than an AMD. I have seen, time after time, the AMD processor is superior to Intel's processor- both performance and price. I have used this processor in ABIT,Gigabyte,ECS,MSI,Shuttle and Soyo boards all without any problems. Great processor for the money!!!!

AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 GHz Processor

Strengths: Extreme perfomance, runs cooler from palmino, high overclocking

Weakness: price

Finally a CPU that can run stable over 2 Giggers on Air Cooling! AMD finally got back to making unlocking a CPU easy for the Overclockers that make them Rock! Come to the Extemesystems.org forums and learn from the best! www.xtremesystems.org/...
