Rygar

Strengths: Excellent Graphics and Score

Weakness: Too Short

Rygar is an update to the classic Tecmo game of the same name. Using your Diskarmor, Rygar must rescue Princess Harmonia and restore peace to the island of Argus. Great graphics and excellent level design make this game a winner. It is a platformer with a fixed camera that can be distracting at times, but really doesnt hinder gameplay in any way. The one problem is that the game is too short. It...

Old School Kicks Back

Strengths: Update of an old, fairly obscure NES/Arcade game, fun fighting

Weakness: camera can make it hard to see where you need to go

Made by the same guy who did Ninja Gaiden on Xbox, Rygar is a pure action/adventure game, with an emphasis on the action part. Fans of DMC, Onimusha, Ninja Gaiden, and God of War owe it to themselves to play this great game. A shield, with blades, that you can swing around like a giant yo-yo of death is truly one of the greatest weapons I've ever seen in a game. Itagaki (the creator) is thinking...

Fun while it lasted

Strengths: Fun gameplay. Very good visuals. Sounds is well done.

Weakness: Invisible walls and fixed camera angles.

Rygar - The Legendary Adventures is a very fun game to play. You play as Caesarian, err Rygar, to save the princess and defeat the Titans' scheme to re-enter the world. The game is an action adventure game. As such, you go around killing monsters and smashing up the environment with different types of disc-armors. There are puzzles that must be solved as well, but they're not hard at all. The...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Graphics, sound, gameplay, and character/world design.

Weakness: Its short.

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure is an action/adventure game for PS2. You play as Rygar who is set out to rescue the princess of his homeland. You use the diskarmor as your weapon, which is a big shield with spikes around the edges attached a long chain that you can hurl around like a whip. The worlds in the game are beautifully detailed and very destructible. Biggest downfall for the game is that...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Great graphics and soundtrack, new rendition of an old classic, great gameplay.

Weakness: Repitive, too short.

I don't really recall getting to play too much Rygar back in the NES days but what I did take away from that experience was nothing but fond memories. I love the combat in this game. Some other people have compared it to Devil May Cry or God of War and I think that's a pretty fair assessment. The action is quite intense and you can't control the angle of the camera (it's preset). Using the whip...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Great graphics, gameplay system is different and fun. Music is also quite good.

Weakness: Fairly short game, some battles get repetitive.

This is a great modernization of an older franchise. The gameplay is very refreshing using a diskarmor to attack enemies and perform various moves. It is somewhat similar to Devil May Cry in that there is fast paced action with a variety of moves and combos that can be used to defeat enemies. The storyline is decent, graphics are sharp and the musical score is very good and fits the environment...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Nice recreation of a classic

Weakness: May be too difficult for some

Rygar was one of the very first PS2 games I bought, and it didn't disappoint. Third person action adventure titles are my favorite type of game and Rygar offers everything to make it a fun satisfying experience. Its really sad that since this title is a couple years old that its going to be overshadowed by a cliche ridden God Of War(still an excellent game), but really, if you've played this...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Awesome destructable environments.

Weakness: Over way, way, way too soon.

Boom! A wall crumbles. Crash! An entire pillar is smashed into nothingness. Welcome to the PS2 version of Rygar, the rough equivilent of Castlevania turned into 3d. You'll solve puzzles, fight awesome bosses ripped straight from greek mythology, upgrade your diskarmor (your weapon of choice--it's basically a whip of death), and explore a complex and beautiful world. All the while, you can destroy...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Good cinemas, soundtrack & graphics (60 FPS), fun fighting, hidden stuff to find

Weakness: Like alot of action games abit on the short side

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure is a remake of an old game that was on the NES & also was in the arcade & Sega Master System, altough they were different games by the same name as the NES Rygar. Rygar is a 3D action adventure game much as the old Rygar was to the NES in 2D. You start out with 1 Diskarmor (The primary weapon you use thoughout the game that is a shield with a chain attached to it...

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure PS2

Strengths: Based on the popular 1980's Rygar arcade game, fast engaging combat, excellent sound and visuals

Weakness: Minor camera and control issues, repetitive enemies, short length, silly dialog, limited replay value, including the NES and/or arcade Rygar games as unlockables would have been nice

Old timers may remember Tecmo's original Rygar arcade game or the NES title based on it. Unfortunately, Tecmo didn't think to include either of these with this game, so you won't get much of a history lesson by playing this updated version. With that said, today's Rygar combines excellent sound effects with beautiful characters and environments as you battle somewhat repetitive groups of enemies....

Rygar Legendary Adventure

One of my favorite trends this year is the updating of classic franchises for the new generation of hardware. This has made for some pretty fun gaming over the last few months, even if titles like Contra: Shattered Soldier and Shinobi don't quite measure up to the best in their respective series. Now Tecmo is trying its luck in the remake sweepstakes with an update of Rygar, a neglected franchise...

Rygar Legendary Adventure

Great minds think alike, they say. With the introduction of the current-generation systems, several old-school publishers have heeded their fans' call, rekindling the nostalgia for classics from Nintendo's NES or Sega's Genesis. Konami has done it with a much needed revitalization of Contra: Shattered Soldier, Sega with the beloved Shinobi, and finally Tecmo with its very own Greco-Roman...
