One of the PS2's strongest thrillers

Strengths: Scary atmosphere, well designed game, good idea

Weakness: Execution of idea is a tad weak, controls are clunky, the game is extremely hard

Siren is one of those games that only a small percentage of gamers will like, but once one of those said gamers pick it up and play it, they will be extremely impressed. The game is very hard, employing multiple things to do in order to even survive past the first "level". The music is good, the sounds are scary, the gunshots are powerful. While nothing is outright bad in the game, the controls...

Great survival horror experience yet frustrating.

Strengths: creepy atmosphere, story, innovative new gameplay style known as sight-jacking.

Weakness: gameplay can get frustrating at times, controls are clunky, voice acting

This game is a worthy pickup for survival horror fans mainly for the well-played-out story and creepy atmosphere if nothing else. The story is set up into different tales that happen throughout the day and night in a small Japanese village. Each tale can happen before of after the previous one, and many character's paths will eventually intersect, while some will only lead to certain doom. The...

Siren

Strengths: Interesting concept

Weakness: Graphics could have been better, as well as the controls

Siren is the kind of game that would be classic with the right amount of polish. The game's atmosphere is downright creepy and among the best I've seen in a ps2 game. The gameplay is largely trial and error with some unneccasriy interactive bits added in such as using a key to manually open a car door and then using it to start an engine when a simple cut scene would have made the game advance...

Great idea, bad execution

Strengths: Amazingly convincing atmosphere, realistic characters, interesting concept

Weakness: Weak levels and overly difficult monsters make this title hard to get far in, much less enjoy.

I bought Siren with the notion that it would be another Japanese horror game along the lines of Silent Hill 4. However, when I actually got around to playing it, I found it to be something quite different. Though I wish I could say that this difference was something to be enjoyed, it simply wasn't. Though I enjoyed the opening cenimas and was even slightly spooked, the feeling lasted for a very...

Siren

Strengths: Good concept, introduces new ideas in the horror game genre such as sightjacking

Weakness: Bad on the cutscenes, voice over work needed improvement.

I liked everything about Siren. It really felt sprawling and immersing. The Shibito and incarnations of fallen characters are creepy. The visuals are superbly minimal which makes them far more effective and ethereal. This survival horror game is a little longer, a little more threatening and more challenging than most (a good thing). So, I recommend that this game be bought on the basis that...

Siren

Strengths: One of the better thriller horror games, a lot of characters whose story interconnects, unique gameplay mechanic.

Weakness: Not so great controls and camera, story jumps around a lot.

Ever since Resident Evil and all the clones that it gave birth to, it's hard to come up with new ideas for games of this genre. But Siren is quite unique with its sheer number of protagonists and unique gameplay mechanic (getting into the minds of others). The atmosphere is very creepy thanks to the well done graphics and sound. The one thing that hampers the game is the controls and camera. They...

Siren

Strengths: Creepy, just creepy. Great atmosphere.

Weakness: Gameplay can get tedious.

If I were to give a grade alone just for the atmosphere...it would get 5 stars. This game is downright freaky at times. Gameplay is nothing new and after awhile you may get bored. Overall though, survival horror fans should eat this up.

Siren

Strengths: Awesome story and incredible horror.

Weakness: I would have liked the graphics to be a bit better.

As I stated above, this game has an awesome story and incredible horror. The only thing that bugged me was that the graphics could have been a bit up to date. I'm not saying they sucked, just that they could have been better. I've played through this game about three times, and it just keeps getting better each time through. I'm going to give this game a four star. Propz Siren.

Siren

Strengths: Creepy sound effects, interesting concept and graphics

Weakness: Jerky controls, plot is too disjointed

Siren has the makings of an interesting game - a creepy Japanese village that is possessed as zombies and you as a player perform through the eyes of ten different playable characters - but it doesn't always work well. Sightjacking (the ability to see through the eyes of friends or foes) is a feature of the game that is fun, but really offers very little help in getting ahead. The Link Navigator,...

Siren

Run, run while you can. They are coming after you – perhaps not especially fast, but doggedly and with evil intent. Siren is an in-house PlayStation2 title from Sony Computer Entertainment America that is a single-player ride into a Japanese village that has suddenly become the home of evil. Not only has the population of this village been turned into inhuman monsters, but those who have...

Siren

From the moment I*Motion's original genre-creating masterpiece Alone in the Dark first appeared on our computer screens more than ten years ago, original ideas for the survival horror category have been few and far between. As regardless of what studio these games eventually come out of, it seems that nearly every single member of the genus has done its best to copy the model set forth by...
