Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a banana of a good time!

Strengths: Superb gameplay mechanics, excellent graphics, excellent music, excellent level design, inventive new characters, plenty of gameplay variety

Weakness: Lack of boss variety, absence of classic Donkey Kong Country characters, very short

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is played in a 2D sidescrolling view with 3D graphics. One might expect a platformer played with a pair of bongos to produce an awkward play experience, but DK Jungle Beat provides just the opposite. As you beat the left or right bongo, Donkey Kong moves in the respective direction with speed relative to how fast you beat the individual drums. Hit both drums at once and...

This game is awesome

Strengths: Fighting the bosses, watermelon kingdom

Weakness: None

I really like to play this. I like fighting the different boss characters in the different kingdoms. I liked the watermelon kingdom the most. The game gets more interesting as we advance into the later kingdoms.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Strengths: Innovative game play, graphics, sound

Weakness: Very short, not as fun if you do not have the bongos

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a great, albeit short game that I would recommend for Gamecube owners. The graphics and animations are excellent and the sound is also good and fits in with the adventure. However, I strongly suggest that you purchase this game with the bongos if you do not have any because I would rate this game much lower if you had to use a regular Gamecube controller. The innovative...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Strengths: Addictive and unique

Weakness: Could have used more variety with it's enemies

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat completely surpassed my expectations. Unlike the first Donkey Konga, this version plays like a traditional 2D platformer. Control is smooth and the game doesn't burden you pointless filler in between levels, making replaying stages to earn higher scores actually fun. It is pretty loud, so you might have to take that into account before playing(I can't play it at night)....

Must-have title for the Gamecube

Strengths: Excellent platformer with unique controls

Weakness: Game is short if you don't enjoy replay for high scores

Throw away everything you think you know about the Donkey Kong franchise; the big ape is the only character that appears in any other game. This is an all-new experience. There's no overwrought story or painful attempts at humor here, just a pure platforming experience mixed with the unique control experience of the DK bongos. And don't think that because it uses the bongos, that it's a music...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Strengths: Something new

Weakness: Bosses are kinda recycled

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat isn't like Donkey Konga. Instead, you use the bongos as the controller to guide Donkey Kong. As awkward as this sounds, it's actually rather smooth. I personally liked this game as it is rather unique and fun. The replayability is moderate to high. If you have Donkey Konga 1 and/or 2 then I suggest you get this as well. It's a nice break from Konga(s).

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Strengths: innovative

Weakness: noisy if pops is trying to sleep

I saw this game at Fry's Electronics and the Bongos seemed stupid but interesting. After watching my brother play for a little bit, I decided to buy it. I got the Bongos and the game at Walmart for $55, and even though several reviews said the game is very short, there is a lot to do. If you have any desire to get the Platinum crest on each level, this game may take a very long time. I really...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Strengths: Great graphics, Nice controller - bongos control, Cute characters, Good Music

Weakness: Too short

This game allows you to use the bongo drums to control the movement of Donkey Kong. This is really the fun part! When you are beating the enemies, you are actually beating the drums! It really needs your efforts to get bananas and beat those cute pigs/elephants! By collecting enough points, you can unlock different fruit stages. This game is much better than other bongos games (Donkey Konga 1 and...

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

Strengths: 1) Simple platform game made unique through the Bongo Controller mechanics 2) Levels designed for shorter play intervals - hands get tired from drumming for a prolonged time

Weakness: 1) Simple graphics 2) Repetitive and short

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a unique experience because of the way the Bongo drum controller is used, however, with a little more depth it could have been a much better game. The boss battles provide some challenge and are interesting, however, once the novelty has worn off (or you have gone through all of the short levels), there is not much incentive to go back and replay. It is a fun new...
