Lock On: Modern Air Combat

There are two basic ways that you can fly a plane on your computer system. You can hop into a cockpit and blast into the sky, seeking out the enemy and dispatching him with extreme prejudice. Lock On Modern Air Combat

For veteran fans of air combat sims, the autumn of 2003 may well inspire a winter of discontent. First, Secret Weapons Over Normandy -- by the creators of the classic WWII sim, Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe -- turns out to be a lightweight arcade game, and now the long-awaited follow-up to Flanker 2.0 is released with a bunch of bugs and no real manual.

Where have all the flight sims gone? It seems like every time we turn around we're treated to yet another copycat real-time strategy game or a generic shooter. I suppose that it's easier to develop such titles than it is to create an entirely accurate physics and avionics system.
