arx fatalis

Strengths: IMMERSIVE GAMEPLAY, COMPELLING STORY

Weakness: WEAK GRAPHICS

ARX FATALIS IS A FREE ROAMING ROLE-PLAYING GAME THAT IS SIMILAR TO "THE ELDER SCROLLS: MORROWIND GAME OF THE YEAR". YOU ARE AN INDIVIDUAL NAMED AM SHAEGAR WHO STARTS AS A PRISONER IN THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF ARX. YOU WILL EVENTUALLY ESCAPE FROM YOUR CAPTORS AND WILL THEN HAVE FREE ACCESS TO FULLY EXPLORE THE VAST UNDERGROUND CAVES. THE BASIC STORY IS THAT THE EARTH'S SUN IS NOW GONE AND ALL OF...

Arx Fatalis Xbox

Strengths: Gameplay

Weakness: Gets repetitive as you keep exploring

I liked this game a lot at first. It is a complete and utter dungeon crawler in every sense of the word. It reminded me a lot of Ultima Underworld for the PC, but with better graphics and on Xbox. It was a lot of fun, until I got farther into it and it was just the same thing over and over with different people and groups. It's worth $10 or $15 though.

Arx Fatalis Xbox

Strengths: A nice first-person RPG...

Weakness: But it has many weaknesses.

Arx Fatalis is one of those games where for every step forward, it takes two steps backwards. Much like the acclaimed Morrowind, Arx is a first-person RPG that possesses a heavy western feel--think Dungeons and Dragons, and you've already got a good idea of what this is going to be like. The gameplay is solid enough, with lots of skills to upgrade and items to collect... the main problems are...

Arx Fatalis Xbox

Strengths: Great storyline, nice mission-based design, interesting controls for magic and combat

Weakness: Music, sound effects and graphics are only so-so

First-person RPG action comes to the XBox in Arx Fatalis. The world of Arx Fatalis is one shrouded in darkness, with everyone living underground. Starting out in a cell, the story slowly evolves through a great deal of mission-based episodes. The combat system is done in first-person, like a FPS. The magic system is gesture-driven, where spells are cast though the work of making the gestures that...

Arx Fatalis

Some games are over-hyped, others receive far less credit than they deserve, and every so often a game simply falls through the cracks and gets almost no attention at all. Arx Fatalis falls solidly into the third category and this is a real shame considering it has the unique distinction of being a decent role playing game for the Xbox.

Arx Fatalis

Your name is Am Shaegar – a foreign phrase that means he who has no name. No name means no memory of the past or why you are locked in a cell deep underground beneath a sunless world. The story is long and one of woe. The city of Arx once proudly stood above ground, basking in the warmth of the sun. But after the death of the king, the sun gradually began to diminish. The new king, knowing that...

Arx Fatalis

In theory, the life of a video-game critic should be one of the most pleasant in all creation, rating slightly below Playboy photographer, and well above Playboy circulation manager. In practice, it's often one of intense frustration, and not just when one is assigned to review the latest SpongeBob SquarePants extravaganza.
