Kirby: CC

Strengths: innovative use of the stylus

Weakness: stylus control learning curve

Finally picked up this title recently and popped it into the DS. Played the first level quickly and overall, it was an enjoyable experience for my first time playing any Kirby title.

Good graphics, fast play and straight forward game play. My only problem is that for me, it took some getting used to getting the rainbows to be at the right angles to get Kirby going up or down them. My initial start point of rainbows were too vertical causing Kirby to bounce off and head the opposite way. I'm sure as I get more comfortable with using the stylus, this will become an non-issue.

Draw your way to the goal!

Strengths: -Unique take on platforming! -Fun!

Weakness: Hmmm... I'm not sure. It's a solid game!

This is a Kirby platfroming game for the DS, but not like any before! Kirby has been turned into a ball and must roll through the levels. Send him on his way by drawing a path for him to ride on. However, you can only have so much paint at one time, so use it carefully! Kirby can spin and take enemy powers as well. The boss encounters are interesting. They are not traditonal battles, but more like mini games. Also, there are plenty of unlockables to work towards.

Kirby canvas curse is a cool game

Strengths: uses the stylus fun for kids as young as 5-61

Weakness: mini games hard

I think it is great fun and interesting to use the stylus to make Kirby move. I enjoy using the stylus as this is a different way to play games than I am used to. My mom who has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis was able to use the stylus to play the game. She is unable to use the buttons so this made this game fun. My son likes to make the rainbows and copy the abilities of the enemies. Mickey

Give your stylus a workout!

Strengths: Tons of stylus use, good graphics, addicting.

Weakness: Can be a little hard toward the end.

Playing this game is the most use you'll get out of your stylus. The object of the game is to use your stylus to paint lines and guide Kirby throughout the different stages. Touch Kirby to make him go faster or touch an enemy to stun him so that Kirby can hit him. The game is very fast paced and addicting throughout each stage. The later stages can be a little frustrating, but the fun gamplay more than makes up for it. If you want to get the most of your stylus you should definitely give this game a try.

Kirby Canvas Curse

Strengths: Great platformer tailor made for the DS

Weakness: N/A

Kirby Canvas Curse was the first full-length game that demonstrated the full potential of the touch screen on the Nintendo DS. While other games like Yoshi Touch and Go and Pac-Pix made clever use of the touch screen, they were more like short tech demos.

In Kirby Canvas Curse you draw paths for Kirby to roll on (he rolls instead of running), while also giving him speed boosts by tapping him. You don't directly control him which is what makes this title unique. You can also stun enemies by tapping them and the let Kirby roll into them to finish them off. This will often provide powerups that allow Kirby to take out more enemies or reach areas otherwise unaccessible.

The game also has a perfect balance of easy playability coupled with difficult challenges. It is fairly easy to get to the goal in each level, but a challenge to get some of the coins that are scattered about (3 per level) as bonus items. The boss battles, and in particular, the final one, are fairly challenging too.

This game has been out for a year and a half now and thus qualifies as a classic DS game - a definite must-have for any new DS owner.

Kirby Canvas Curse

Strengths: Innovative use of the stylus

Weakness: None

This is my first time playing a Kirby game, and it lived up to the reputation my friends had built up for it. It was a fun platformer, and I loved the way it integrated the stylus into the gameplay seamlessly.

Kirby is back

Strengths: Great innovation, fun

Weakness: none

Great fun this game is. Easy to control, and colorful. There are many boards in the game and a lot of stuff to discover. This game is top notch. One of the best on the DS. Buy it!

Kirby Innovation

Strengths: Superb and innovative controls. Unique gameplay.

Weakness: Some levels are unforgiving, only 2d graphics

To me, this is the best Kirby game ever made. It is also a game that could only be played on the DS, and it is a truly wonderful and unique experience. Drawing a path for Kirby to follow is easy and fun to do, plus there is a lot of level and enemy variety. The game does have a few very difficult levels and the graphics look slightly dated, but it is a Kirby game so the graphics can be forgiven. The game is very short but it did leave me wanting more.

Kirby on the DS

Strengths: Great use of the stylus

Weakness: Some areas are just impossible

I enjoyed 90% of this game when I picked it up and played the majority of it at one time. While a short game, it is equally fun, minus a few areas that are nearly impossible to complete for me.

Drawing with the stylus (and depleting an energy meter), you provide Kirby with paths over, under, and around obstacles. The precision of the touch-screen is readily apparent with this title, and Kirby Canvas Curse is a game that can easily provide entertainment with all age groups, making it a fine introductory title to the system.

Kirby:CC

Strengths: great use of the stylus

Weakness: none

The game play might seem simple. You draw a line for Kirby to follow to get from point a to point b. However, the presentation is very well done. Each level is well designed and fun to play. This is one of the must have for Nintendo DS.

Not cursed at all

Strengths: Innovative, fun gameplay. Lots of stages, medals, bonuses to unlock.

Weakness: Gets frustrating, many medals are only for diehard completists.

Kirby Canvas Curse is an excellent game that has truly innovative and fun gameplay. Unlike previous Kirby games, you control Kirby by drawing lines on the screen, which influences where he goes. By utilizing lines, screen taps, and Kirby's different modes, you have excellent control over Kirby as he tackles puzzles, mazes, and enemies over a variety of levels.

Getting through the game is only the tip of the iceberg, though. Each stage has medals that can be earned by collecting coins, or passing through the level in a certain amount of time. Medals can be used to unlock new levels, bonuses, or other neat things. This gives the game a huge amount of replay value, and an incentive to tackle stages that might have been easy to finish, but not finish completely.

Graphics, sounds, and production values are all high. The only possible negative is the later levels might be too frustrating, and some of the medals seem downright impossible, but so what? No matter how much or little you play and unlock, this game is a breath of fresh air. Every DS owner should have this game.

Innovative stylus-based platformer

Strengths: Great use of the DS touchscreen, good replayability and unlockable features.

Weakness: First few levels are a bit slow.

This was one of the first DS games to really show off the touchscreen feature, and it's still a solid, unique platformer. The drawing-based gameplay is a very fun concept. This game is fairly short, but searching for the medals to unlock secrets is a good challenge and lengthens the game considerably.

If you're a fan of the DS's touchscreen and unique gameplay, Kirby: Canvas Curse is a fun little game.

Great platformer

Strengths: Looks great. Interestign game worlds. Fun boss battles

Weakness: None

Canvas Curse is a fun little platformer for the DE. The nice thing is that you use the touch screen for 100% opf your interaction. You draw the paths kirby travels, tap enemies, draw designs in boss battles, and do other fun stuff. The worlds are challenging but not impossible and there are plenty of levels. Highly recommended.

Kirby on DS

Strengths: innovative touch screen use

Weakness: none

Finally a DS game that is both innovative and has substance. This game is fun, and easy to play. There is tons of stuff to unlock and lots of secrets. It is fun controlling Kirby with the stylus.

Great showpiece

Strengths: Innovative gameplay. Excellent use of touch screen. Better than Yoshi Touch and Go.

Weakness: None

If you want a unique game that really shows off what is possible with touch screen gameplay, then Kirby Canvas Curse is for you. At the start of the game, Kirby is turned into a little ball and it is up to you to draw lines to guide him through many engaging worlds! There is no button pressing here, you control all the action with the stylus. Nintendo has finally made a game that proves the touch screen is much more than a gimmick. Pick up this game if you are a fan of Kirby or want a game that tries something new.

Kirby in DS

Strengths: Lots of "touching"!

Weakness: None

Nintendo DS Kirby Canvas Curse is a game that you have to use the stylus (a lot) to clean/make a way or to stop enemies so Kirby can roll to the goal. I like the rainbow line that we draw on the screen, it is beautiful. Few mini games can be unlocked. Music is great as usual. Highly recommend to buy one if you like to play DS with a stylus.

Kirby like you've never played before

Strengths: Great use of the touch screen, great graphics and art design.

Weakness: Ends fast, a bit challenging toward the end.

I've been a fan of the Kirby series for a long time and it was great to see the gameplay receive a facelift of sorts with the touch screen. The graphics and sound are what you expect from a typical Kirby game but the touch screen gives the gameplay a brand new feeling because you guide Kirby by touching him, creating paint-like paths and even road blocks. The game is very addictive so most likely you will breeze through the game very quickly. Luckily, the game is very fun so it will warrant some replay.

Kirby: Canvas Curse Review

Kirby Canvas Curse is probably the most complete experience on the DS at the moment. It combines the old school platforming / puzzle gameplay with the new school DS touch screen controls, and manages to do both in a way that's both fun and new. In the end, Canvas Curse is paving the way for the future DS games that can make use of the system's unique abilities and produce high quality games that...

Kirby: Canvas Curse

Contrary to popular belief, you can teach an old dog new tricks. Kirby is an odd, somewhat repetitive series has that has been inhaling gamers for more than 10 years. Its gameplay mechanics haven't changed much in that time – navigate the platform-heavy worlds, swallow a few enemies, utilize their powers and before you know it the game is over. The same was true for its Nintendo 64 iteration...

Kirby Canvas Curse

There's been a trend lately of DS games that nicely show off the system's capabilities, but don't feel like fully developed games. Titles like Pokémon Dash, Pac-Pix, and Yoshi Touch & Go are great tech demos, but don't really hold up over extended play sessions. Kirby: Canvas Curse, on the other hand bucks that trend by making great use of the DS hardware and features a real game underneath the...
