One of the Best Game's I've played yet

Strengths: Depth of game play. Graphics. Sound.

Weakness: Long map loading times(before you get used to it). Need a strong system(plenty of ram).

This is one of the last games I've played...that has great graphics ALONG with great game play. You can do everything here, from infiltrating onto islands with 5 of your "squad mates" in your boat, to blowing up cars and helicopters with a jet flying at who-knows-how-fast speeds, to commanding(giving orders and controlling your side/army) half of the whole battlefield. Add to that that this game has some of the best graphics even almost 3 years after it came out, and this has to be one of the best games I've ever played(yes, in almost half of my life spent playing video games).

First, you start off as a lone soldier, running around shooting stuff up, joining your "buddies" in jeeps and buggies. But then, you decide to join a squad(or a group of soldiers working together), and you see funny-looking signs which you then learn means orders to attack, defend, mine, etc., points of interest. As you learn how your squad leader directs your squad, it may interest you to lead your own squad! Once you do this, you actually learn how to navigate 5 foot soldiers under your command around the battlefield. To me, this is the most fun of the game, but it takes responsibility, as you have to have a certain degree of successful tactics to keep your squad mates loyal to you.

Once squad leading is mastered, you can step up to being a commander, the head-honcho, the guy that makes the sky cry...arty shells that is! Yes, not only does the commander order Squad leaders(or up to 31 soldiers), but he has one of the most powerful weapons in his hands, capable of destroying whole legions of soldiers in just a few seconds. He also has some very cool "tools" to aid him in controlling his side of the battle, but I won't spoil the game for those who haven't played it yet:p

And this is just the BEGINNING of the depth of Battlefield 2. There are 7 classes to choose from, each with their own unique weapons and abilities, but all very interesting to play with in different situations. There are also many vehicles to use and control. There are jets for the hotshots, and helicopters for the those who like to take it a little bit slower.

The depth of Battlefield 2 doesn't end here. No...Dice did something that truly sets this game from other fps' I have played: they added a persistent tracking system, which keeps track of all your progress in the game(different actions/etc are kept under different categories). Once you "rank up" to a higher army status, you are able to unlock a weapon; that is, you're given a choice to choose from a couple of guns that you would like to fight with.

All in all, the more I play BF2, the more I am drawn into it, but not only because of the game play, but what Dice did with the graphics engine, too. What's special about BF 2's graphics is not it's technical abilities, but what is DONE with the game's graphics. This is one of those games that makes me FEEL that I am truly in the game, IN the world Dice has drawn up for me to play in. In this way, the game has a very immersing feeling to it. I've added a screenshot of my favorite map--at the game's highest settings with 8x FSAA on.

This game also has some of the best sound I've ever heard, which can be enjoyed more the better one's sound hardware is.

After about two years of playing this game, I must say that Battlefield 2 is truly one of a kind, a real classic. Just one piece of advice: patience is needed to learn the game's pace of play, and also the pace of finding a game to join. Once those are adjusted to, I think this game is a sure winner for those interested in one of the deepest experiences a fps has to offer.

BF2 rules but EA still have things to sort out

Strengths: very good gameplay, has to be the best PC game of all time. there is no game that can compare. you need to have all the gear eg. mic... but with the gear the game comer to life soooo mutch more.

Weakness: you need to have a top spec PC one of the graphics cards that the game will surport. i have found that it does work with more cards than EA list it works on my ATI Raidon X300se which isnt listed.

best game ever made. its a must buy, i recomend that u download the demo off, of battlefield2.ea.com to see if it will run b4 buying the game. have fun

One of the best games ever made

Strengths: Graphics and gameplay,

Weakness: None that I can think of.

To the guy that gave this game a low rating because of its system demands, you are missing the point. System requirements are listed right on the box for all the world to see. No support? Don't buy it! This game is awesome. One of the first games to really push the boundaries of online multiplayer potential, the first push since UT2004 in my opinion. Multiple skills allow the player to choose your expertise, and if you are a team player, there are many scenarios in which success requires strategy. Or you can play like me and choose the snipe option and pick em off from a distance. Different day, different skill. Great game.

bf2

Strengths: good graphics. fun internet play.

Weakness: takes a long time to load. especially for most internet servers. you get taken off the game for no reason

i have had this game for 2 weeks. its a great game if you have the graphics card. i had a geforce 4600 ti installed on my computer. but it doesnt work with the game. so i got a radeon 800 xl. my friends and i have gotten kicked off the internet numerous times for no good reason. besides the game being frustrating at times, it can be really fun. there are great weapons/kits in this game and cooperative teamwork makes the game more interesting. the game also has great maps and cars.

i would say next in line to halo

Strengths: exllent gameing graphics, awsome teamwork during play, little team killing, most team killers get banned, you can view you stats clearly

Weakness: take a long time to load if played on line, need fairly good internet to play smothly, a few glichs, system reqirement is too high, lack a campiage mode, worst music that a game can have

this is an exllent multi-massive-online-first-person-shooter, i would say it's the best right now, probebly better than halo for the online part. it has exllent graphic, but have a few glichs in the landscapeing, the game play is amazing, very relistic, during play, there is alot of team work, and bearly any perposed teamkillers, perposed teamkillers get banned immideatly in most severs. you can view you stats clearly in BFHQ, you see your number of kills, death, kit used, hour played, your worst enime, and ur best victim, you rank, you progrtion to next rank, ect...

when loading in to an online sever, it take around 2 min for my internet to load, which is a long time! you would need a fairly good internet to reduce loading time and play smothness. the system reqirments are toooo high, i bought a $100 graphics card just for this game cause my old 1 wasnt good enough, it seriously lack a better sigleplayer/campiage mode, and the title page sound for the game got to the worst music a game can have...

overall, im my opion this is the best multi-massive-online-first-person-shooter
and probebly will stay the best for a while!

requires new video card

Strengths: Great grahics, great game gameplay

Weakness: steep system requirments, no support for GeForce 4 video cards

This is a great game and has great potentional. However, the developers lack of support for older video cards will hurt the sales. For those that have any type of Geforce 4 cards you will not be able to play the game. Instead you will need to purchase a 5700+ card (cost $100+) just to play. I recommend wait until you can afford the card and when the price goes down and if you are still interested buy the game.
Because of the video card issue I gave it a low score.

Thanks for the review. I'm on an FX 5200 and wondering if the game's requirements are steeper than the demo's.

Okay support for video cards has nothing to do with the game itself, that isnt a fair rating for this game seeing as it is a spectacular game. And every game has its bugs but u no wat if u have an older videocard then itll look crappy anyways so... And also im sure u can get around it. (next time stick to ATI, they have better card anyways)

It works fine on my Radeon 9550 (800x600 res, but no lag.) That only costs about $50, so I don't think you have to spend $100+ dollars just to play it. A nice video card helps, but if you have anything even close to modern, it should play.

AWSUM!!!!!

Strengths: Killer graphics if you have the video card to handle them.

Weakness: Long load time, sometimes a little unstable.

To those whining that their old computer won't play it......CATCH UP. This game is awsum. I have never played a game as intense as this. This is the best 1st persom shooter game since Mech Warrior Vengence. The old and slow systems cannot keep up with the video demands. I recommend if thinking of purchasing this game first look at the box for the specs and then updating your system. 2 gig of ram is a must, 512 meg is not enough, it will work with 1 gig of ram. The NVIDEA 5600 chip set will work with graphics set to minimum, the NVIDEA 6600 chipset rocks with this game. The faster the processor the better, my old 2400+ worked fine.

Plenty of fun in a small little package

Strengths: Fun and will get players dedicated since you can rank up

Weakness: Not that many servers anymore, some cheaters once in a while

Battlefield 2 has always been a great first person shooter. It is categorized differently from Counterstrike in that it is more realistic and has vehicles and really detailed environments. The graphics are great and the gameplay is even better. Players will get hooked easily as you have to dedicate time in order to rank up and get more medals. Weapons are unlockable with more playing time.

Battlefield 2

Finally it's here the long anticipated title Battlefield 2 has been flying off the shelves, and I have to admit it was worth the wait. It is obvious that the developers heard the cries of the gaming community and brought us a modern day wartime FPS that is sure to leave a smile on any gamer's face. BF2 is a modern day version of BF 1942 with all the latest weapons and vehicles one would expect in...

Battlefield 2

The Battlefield series is a favorite around the office at IGN. It offers up a unique shooter experience that you don't find elsewhere in a realistic setting. Vehicles and infantry move realistically and weapons have firing cones and rates that mimic actual life fairly closely . More importantly, the pace of the game is undeniably fun and the Battlefield moments like helicopters getting sideswiped...
