UbiSoft Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

Strengths: Awesome graphics and (continuing) Myst storyline. Third and first person view. Completely configurable avatar.

Weakness: No on-line play as originally stated. They just couldn't get it together and have cancelled 'Live'.

Myst series just keeps getting better. If you like adventure games, you won't be dissapointed. Installation was flawless and ran perfectly on my system with highest detail settings, res. at 1024x768, 2x AA, 2x AF

P4 2.0 ghz
512 mgs PC800 RDRAM
Nvidia G-4 Ti 4200 DDR 128 mgs
Direct X 9.0b
Santa Cruz DSP 5.1

UbiSoft Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

Strengths: Nice Graphics, Audio too.

Weakness: A little Easy.

About a quarter of the way through currently, gameplay and puzzles are good, but a little easy (as already mentioned).

Game runs stable with any graphics settings (800*600@32bit).
Frame Rate Drops quite rapidly due to the grass transparency at large resolutions (at least on my machine).

Tested on the following:

Machine 1:

Pentium 4 2.66 GHZ proc. 533MHZ FSB
512MB PC2700 ram (normal speed)
Radeon 7000 Based Graphics
ATA133 40 Gig HD.

Ran best at:
800*600@32bit with the following settings:
Ultra Quality, High Textures, no FSAA, no aniostopy

Machine 2:

athlon XP 1800+ 266 FSB
256MB PC2700 ram (normal speed)
Gainward Geforce 4 MX440 Graphics Card
ATA133 40 Gig HD.

Ran best at:
800*600@32bit with the following settings:
Ultra Quality, High Textures, no FSAA, 2x aniostopy

Machine 3:

Pentium 4 1.5GHZ 400 FSB
512 MB PC600 RD normal speed)
Gainward Geforce 2 MX200 Graphics Card
ATA100 40 Gig HD.

Ran best at:
800*600@16bit with the following settings:
Medium Quality, High Textures, no FSAA, no aniostopy
(May have to lower settings further based on system)

UbiSoft Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

Strengths: Excellent graphics

Weakness: high system need's.

I brought URU with the prime purpose of on-line play that was ment to enhance the off line version, within one month it had been 'put to bed' !!!!!!

UbiSoft Uru: Ages Beyond Myst

Strengths: NONE

Weakness: complete failure to work in recogmened systems.

Ubisoft must own stock in Microsoft and ATI, why else would they define a game the way that this one is. They market a product that won't work on systems that use different OS and use video cards that are superior to ATI's. I have never had any software fail to work out of the box until now. Tried it it on several machines including those that meet Ubisoft requirements and still have been unable to get past program loading screens (locks computer up). Until the consumers raise a fuss the software people will continue to put out products like this. Don't buy until fixed!

Uru: Ages Beyond MYST

Ages Beyond Myst Ten years ago, the original Myst wowed gamers by providing them with one of the best adventure games of all time. The game’s blend of beautiful graphics and use of full-motion video compelled gamers to update their computers with sound cards and CD-ROM drives, and served as one of the front-runners of the multimedia revolution of the early nineties. Not to mention the fact that...

Uru Ages Beyond Myst

Myst was, at one point, the biggest selling game of all time. The Sims came along and unseated this legendary title, but it had a long and fruitful reign. Sequels to that epic adventure included Riven and Myst III: Exile and both sold well. The latest incarnation, Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, is taking a little different journey with a 3rd person perspective not seen before. Cyan Worlds is also...
