AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08GHz, 512KB, 333MHz, Socket...

Strengths: Very affordable, overclocks to 3200+ levels with decent cooling. Pleasing performance.

Weakness: An unshielded core means you have to be very carefull when installing a heatsink, so you don't crush it.

I built my new computer the summmer of 2003. It cost $229 when I bought it, and with my Volcano 11, It can easily overclock to 2.2 ghz with 400 Mhz FSB, the equivalent of an XP 3200+. Works great, and games run smooth as silk. Works perfectly with my ASUS A7n8x Deluxe board, which is an nForce 2 Ultra 400.

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08GHz, 512KB, 333MHz, Socket...

Strengths: This is a great chip! It's fast & stable at default settings.

Weakness: None so far...

I chose this chip for a machine that does primarily multi-media apps like Photoshop, Director, Video capturing and etc. Games perform great! I'm running it on a MSI K7N2 mobo w/gig of mem.
I'm very happy with the XP2800. You can buy faster, but you'll probably not notice much difference with real world use regardless what the benchmarks say. This simply is a great chip!

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08GHz, 512KB, 333MHz, Socket...

Strengths: This is the fastest computer i have ever seen!

Weakness: HEAT, GODD*MN HEAT!

This one is good for playing games!
I can play with the best graphics in all the games that i have Battlefield, Enter the Matrix and DeltaForce BlackHawk Down! Not to mention the smoothness of the application starts. All i can say is WHOA!

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08GHz, 512KB, 333MHz, Socket...

Strengths: One of his strengths is his new Front Side Bus, which is at 166 MHz. The Athlon XP 2800+ gets more performance because of the higher FSB...

Weakness: If the frequency would be higher, a Pentium IV from Intel didn´t have any chances, but it isn´t so. Nevertheless the XP 2800+ gets more speed in some benchmarks then a Pentium IV with 2,8 GHz...

A good CPU from AMD, but the price will be very high, about 450 Dollars. You can read a complete review of the cpu at hardware-mag.de
