Strengths: Fast. OC'd to 176 FSB, 2288mhz, totally stable, since I installed it.
Weakness: None
Running this on an A7V333 mobo with 2 Corsair 512mb XMS3000 memory sticks @2-2-6-1. Might be better on an nForce2 or a KT400 board but I don't think it would be a large improvement.

Strengths: Speed and overclocking. Isn't that what a good processor is all about???
Weakness: uh... none
This is the best processor out there (cept for the 2800, but not a big diff), this will on average match a pentium 4 2.6-2.8 at stock speeds, and it can oc very nicely. the best board to match this processor is an nforce 2 board, and ddr333 cl2.0 (crucial xms 3500 is the 1337est ram).

Strengths: REliable processor that runs at fast speed. Love AMD, much better than INtel
Weakness: None really. NOt much room for overclock. May be problem with mobo.
I am running this on a Gigabyte G7vaxp and have had no problems with recognition. Runs at proper speed of 2.17G and I have gotten it up to a stable 2.3G, but after that it would crash. I think just a board weakness. It ran beautifully in my Shuttle AN35Ultra board also. It is a great price for the performance if you are looking for a good Athlon XP upgrade.
Anandtech helped me make the decision on this chip when I saw in the reviews that it performed just as fast as the 2800XP with 512 kb cache, so I went with this fast puppy. Get a nice cooler for it and you will be a happy chappy. Hope you like it as much as I do.

AMD Thoroughbred-B Athlon XP 2700+ 2.17GHz 254KB...
Strengths: Fast, supposedly
Weakness: Won't work at 166MHz FSB in my Giga-Byte 7VAXP
I upgraded from an Athlon XP 1700+ to the 2700+ since my motherboard (GA-7VAXP), equipped with the Via KT400 chipset, supports a 166MHz FSB. However, after installing the new processor, I cannot get the system to work at the new FSB speed. I have to run it at 133MHz, which makes the processor be recognized as a 2100+, and the performance is terrible. I suspect my motherboard is to blame since the processor works fine in another system. I wish I could use it at its full ability.
