Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: fun fast paced game, many paint jobs, people jump out of your way, lots of stuff to run into, easy controls.

Weakness: the game sometimes freezes, only 2 cities, you can sometimes see right through some buildings(Union Station, you can see a break.)

One of the best driving games for Xbox, I would recommend it for anyone, who cares about cops, just turn them off,I haven't even played the first 2 but I do feel like I already knew how to play, very Project Gotham Racing like controls.

Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: Lots of fun, lots of cars and levels to unlock, great driving environment, multiplayer.

Weakness: Unless you're on Xbox Live, you'll eventually run out of stuff to do

I am not a driving fan. If it weren't for my five year old son, I wouldn't own a single driving game. But I think Midtown Madness 3 is great! It's a game that gives you a good driving experience, a terrific driving environment, and lots of incentives for playing.

One thing: this is not Gran Turismo or Project Gotham Racing. There is a lot of racing in this game, and you do need to think about choosing the right car, being familiar with the courses, and practice helps. But it's not a serious simulation of racing or tuning or precise driving. If you want serious, go to those games. If you want lots of fun while still having a respectable driving engine and physics, look no further than Midtown Madness.

You can choose to drive in Washington DC or Paris. The city models are incredible, and if you've been to the cities, you'll recognize the layouts. You get the whole city -- no limitations or rails. You can drive on the streets, the sidewalks, and in (and up) some buildings. There are ramps where you can get some serious air, and you can even drive in the subway system.

Both Washington and Paris have a mission-based storyline and a set of blitz and checkpoint races. Only a few of each will be available at the start -- you must complete missions and races to open up other, harder missions or races. Completing certain missions or races will earn you a new car.

And there are a *lot* of cars, most of which are real brands. The Chrysler Crossfire, the Corvette Z06, the Audi TT, the new Beetle, the Mini Cooper -- these and many more are all available in different colors and paint styles. There are also unbranded, but far more varied vehicles too, like a garbage truck, an ambulance, an armored car, a fire truck, and others.

Each of the vehicles feels and drives differently, and occasionally choosing the right vehicle is key to completing a race. The large vehicles will appeal mostly to kids, but some missions require their use.

Xbox Live subscribers get multiplayer, which from all accounts is tons better than the single-player game. They also get new cars and levels.

Control and physics are good. The cars each feel different and feel real. This is not Smashing Drive -- you actually have to drive well or you'll never get through the challenges. The missions themselves are both varied and variations on the same thing. Many involve going from point A to point B in a specified time, but there are also twists that make them interesting and fun.

Occasionally, some of the missions are annoying. You would think they'd be fun, but I dreaded the missions where you had to smash into and disable another car. Some of them were unforgiving and I had to try over and over. But, while it's possible to be stuck on one mission for awhile, odds are there's another one you can try -- the missions for each city, blitz races, and checkpoint races are all independant, so being stuck on one won't impact how you do on the others.

The reward system is half of the enjoyment of playing the game. The incentive of getting a new car every few races is compelling enough to keep going, keep trying. There are also paintjobs scattered across both cities to collect -- you must be driving the right vehicle in order to pick up the paintjob. There's a lot to do, and a lot to see, and you won't run out of things to do for a long time.

I have honestly never played a driving game as fun as this one. There's a fair degree of challenge and you have to work on your driving, but I was never so frustrated as to quit. Even just driving around the cities is fun -- and customizable too. You can drive in any of the seasons, morning or night, rain, shine, or snow.

This is also a good game for kids. There's no objectionable content, and you get to drive and smash without carnage. You can also provide your own soundtrack. A lot of thought and effort went into this game, and it shows. My only complaint is that there's no Midtown Madness 4 yet.

Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: Solid gameplay, fun, good graphics

This is a great game, especially for the $20 that I got it for. The cityscapes are breathtaking and there is very little draw-in. It's fun to play multiplayer, and the graphics really do come through on a big screen if you have the HDTV pack (the cityscapes are worth the $20 themselves).

Another excellent racer for Xbox owners. . .

Strengths: Gorgeous graphics, detailed DC and Paris cities, lots of car customization options, online support, downloadable content, budget price

Weakness: Only two cities to explore, single player campaign ends all too quickly, only 30+ cars

Microsoft already took on the dirt in Rallisport Challenge, so they went to the other end of the spectrum (city racing) with Midtown Madness 3. Here you'll take on a variety of challengers through the detailed streets of Paris and Washington, DC.

The maps for DC and Paris are quite detailed, so players familiar with either location will recognize a lot of landmarks. Unfortunately, you're only given two cities to work with, so you don't get a lot of variety in terms of locations or cars (only 30+).

The single player campaign is pretty straight forward, but it can get old quickly given that you have limited cars and locales to play with. However, online play opens the game up considerably given that you never know what kind of competition you'll encounter in cyberspace.

If you've enjoyed any of Microsoft's other first party racers (Forza, Rallisport, etc.), you'll probably be quite happy with this one as well. The only real problem with Midtown Madness is that you only have two locations and 30 odd cars to work with. Race fans should not hesitate to pick this one up for $20 or less.

Fun game!!

Strengths: Graphics, it's not one of those games that you play it once and your board, hours and hours of fun, it takes pretty long to beat.

Weakness: No PC version.

This game has been around for over two years now and it's still a great game. The graphic are very good even by today's standards. Undercover, blitz, and checkpoint are all the types of game play. Midtown Madness 3 is a lot of fun to play. Get it.

Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: Excellent graphics, custom soundtracks, multiple modes of play.

Weakness: The first few cars are very slow. Not many people playing online.

Midtown Madness 3 is a game developed by the same team that made the Rallisport Challenge series. This being said, Midtown Madness 3 is a quality racing game. The game consists of several modes of play. There are objective based mission modes like Taxi Driver and Delivery. There is also the Cruise mode where you can explore the 2 huge cities without having to race. This game was also one of the early Xbox Live games with multiple online modes and downloadable content. One of the main problems I had with this game was that the beginning cars are very slow. They don't really seem to accelerate and take a while to get going fast. The sports cars later on fix this problem and make the game a blast to play! If you like games such as Midnight Club 2, Wreckless, and Crazy Taxi, you will definitely find something to like in Midtown Madness 3.

Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: A fun, light-hearted racing game with plenty of challenge and online modes.

Weakness: Not as in-depth as your Project Gothams and etc.

There are plenty of racing games out there for the Xbox, but many of the big ones just seem to take racing far too seriously (with the exception of Burnout). Midtown Madness is sternly focused on two things: fun and challenge. If you like racing, you'll probably have a really good time with this one. And, of course, you can take it online. There are no rankings, which means that people are more concerned with having a good time than with disconnecting if they lose.

Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: XBL mutliplayer, nice graphics, fun gameplay

Weakness: Some screen glitches, limited replay value

Midtown Madness 3 is a fun arcade driving game. Not even close to a racing sim, this is a pure arcade driver, where you compete either against the computer, a human opponent, or on XBL for online multiplayer. There are numerous areas to drive around the city, avoiding pedestrians, police and other hazards along the way.

The graphics look great, with the occasional hiccup, making the game nice to look at as well as play. One downside is that the game is a bit one-sided in its gameplay, with just the driving, though with XBL multiplayer, that's lessend a bit.

For a fun racing game, this is one to get.

Midtown Madness 3

Strengths: Amazing detail and size of city maps; interactive evironment (pedestrians, street signs, etc.); nice variety of play modes

Weakness: Police chase and bump you, but there is no penalty for "getting caught"

Midtown Madness 3 is a blast if you are looking for pure fun over realism and/or depth. It is a driving game, not a racing game -- even though some modes allow for competition against one (1) other person or the computer. Xbox Live is also supported.

Even though the environment is very detailed and interactive, more could have been done. For example, city maintenance and fire vehicles could be dispatched to clean up the mess you make driving through the city. Ambulances could pick up the poor pedestrians that you hit and run... except that the game never lets you actually hit the pedestrians. Most of all, I wish the police did more than just chase, bump, and be you to stop.

The game is fun, but its replay value is a bit weak.

Midtown Madness 3 (xbox)

The Midtown Madness series was close to becoming an institution with PC gamers -- but since Microsoft shifted focus to the Xbox, it's now a console franchise, and it makes a good one. Angel Studios, the originators of the series, have since been subsumed into the gaping maw of Rockstar based on their success with the Midnight Club games, and Microsoft has handed the franchise to DICE, a...

Midtown Madness 3 (xbox)

You'd think with games like GTA III and Vice City driving the market that huge, organic cityscapes would have become commonplace in the world of videogames. But they haven't. Since Vice City, attempts at creating such large-scale working worlds have paled in comparison. Enter Midtown Madness 3. Although it is a much different experience than Vice City, MM3 offers some of the most fleshed-out game...

‘Watch out!" The pedestrian dives out of the way as your Honda jumps the curb, ploughs through a mailbox and careens back out on the roadway. Ah, just another day at the office, working undercover and driving a car on surreptitious assignments throughout Paris and Washington, D.C. Dice and Microsoft Game Studios are teaming up for the release of Midtown Madness 3, a fast-paced thrill ride...
