Better than I expected!

Strengths: You get to use modern day warfare weapons and tactics.

Weakness: You need more recent PC hardwares to play at maximum details.

It's not as dramatic as CoD2 because the game isn't based on real event in modern day but is better than I thought for their first try. Then again, I have never played first person shooter with really good storyline. I have Geforce 7800GTX, Athlon64 3700 , and 1GB memory. The game runs at chunky speed on this setting so be prepare to upgrade your hardwares, if you want to play it on maximum details. Don't plan to? Then you must play it on medium to low settings or buy one of two console versions.

One of the best!

Strengths: Great graphics, bringing COD to the future is a great concept.

Weakness: M rating because of language

I have been a die hard COD player. I am glad that the makers came up with a better COD. Graphics is great, believable storyline, very immersive battles and missions and great multiplayer gaming. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

Fun modern warfare shooter

Strengths: Good single player storyline, good graphics and audio, fun multiplayer

Weakness: Limited depth of multiplayer. Can feel repetitive.

Overall COD4 is a fun and engaging game I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. The single player has a cinematic quality which really engages you in the game play. As others have said its a little short but still a fun experience.

The multiplayer is where you will likely spend most of your time. With multiple game modes there is a little something for everyone. Although fun and addictive it can at times feel a bit repetitive since the gameplay really comes down to death match and team death match styles of play. The unlockable "perks" had some depth but new players may feel at a disadvantage until they rank up a bit then its a lot more fun. Team work is definitely needed to succeed but IMO the team play doesn't reach the depth offered by the Battlefield games.

On a technical note the graphics and audio are very good. Even so the game is still playable on wide variety of hardware.

Addicting FPS game

Strengths: Beautiful, realistic graphics. Online play.

Weakness: Need a workhorse machine to fully enjoy the eye candy. Solo campaign is a little bit short.

I initially bought this game as a present for a friend who had been wanting this pc game. After a somewhat time-consuming install on his mid-range machine, I got to play a couple of the solo player missions and became hooked on the game myself. A few days later, I went and bought myself a copy and installed it. I have a beefier system, so I was really able to crank up the resolution and setting details. This game is very beautiful on a large monitor, and for the first week, I spent a few hours each day playing it. After finishing the relatively short single player campaign, I went online for multiplayer gaming, but didn't really care for the "Rambo" style of play that everyone else was using. I ended up replaying the campaign at a harder setting and still even to this day, I play fairly often.

Modern Warfare

Strengths: Stellar graphics, immersive game play, timely updates.

Weakness: Short single player campaign. Chaotic on-line game play.

I've enjoyed the past titles in this franchise, but this latest installment brings it to modern day warfare. I find it to be the best title yet. Game play is top notch and graphics are incredible! You'll need a relatively "modern" system to maximize the enjoyment of game play. Also, be sure to check for updates on-line to make sure you're playing with the most current version. On-line game play is quite chaotic since most players are simply on-line to shoot anything in sight and not taking the time to build on teamwork. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this game. One of the best right now!

Short Single Player Campaign, not much teamwork in...

Strengths: Strong storyline, great graphics

Weakness: Very high system requirements. Not much teamwork in multiplayer, fighting is a bit chaotic,

I played through the single player campaign in about 4 sittings. After finishing the campaign, there is an unlock for "arcade mode" which is pretty fun. You can pick each mission by itself and adjust the difficulty.

I've played Battlefield 2 since 2005, and was expecting that type of gameplay in CoD4. Unfortunately the servers I have played on so far are nothing but zerg fests with players running around like crazy trying to kill each other. There is VoIP support integrated in most of the servers, but I have yet to hear someone arrange a squad and use teamwork.

Great game - Intense - recommended!

Strengths: Terrific graphics, good game overall

Weakness: Length of game

If you have enjoyed the previous Call of Duty games, you will like this one too. This game deviates from the past one in that it focuses on modern day warfare. It is a great playing game. This game has terrific graphics, and as long as you don't have an outdated computer, your computer won't have a slow display. The ability to join multi-player games on the internet is also a plus. The only downside is that the length of the regular game is not very long. You can finish this game in a few days if you leisurely play it - in a short while if you play non-stop.

A Truly Cinematic Experience

Strengths: Amazing graphics, awesome sense of being in the fight, great missions with some really incredible set pieces. E.g. Long range sniping, shooting from helicopters and planes, intense ground battles.

Weakness: It is quite short but its mainly because you can't stop playing, it's that good.

Excellent game. I actually like this better than Crysis. Sure you don't have swaying palms but you feel much more like you're fighting for your life. The AC-130 gunship mission is one of the most unique and fun missions I've ever seen in a game. This runs with everything cranked to high where crysis will stutter and will scale better for older pc's. You also get an arcade mode once finished and can go back and try and get the highest point total for being accurate, and quick. GO GET THIS GAME.

Excellent Game

Strengths: Storyline, gameplay both online and offline, and multiple game modes.

Weakness: Annoying air strikes and helicopters in multiplayer.

This is a top notch game with an excellent single and multiplayer gameplay. Realism was taken into account because you can't just run and gun with deadly accuracy like other shooters or go Rambo like other first person shooters. Team cooperation is a must because you would want to cover your buddy while going down the street otherwise the entire squad takes dirt naps. Call of Duty 4 is very similar to Battlefield franchise; at least the unlocks were much more easier to obtain. Highly recommended!

Fun and addicting

Strengths: Realistic modern warfare, great graphics, ability to gain experience and earn better weapons, very addicting.

Weakness: Could of included a medic class, maybe a little too easy to reach the max experience level.

Call of duty 4 is a great game, I saw a preview for it while I was at a movie and thought to myself how realistic it looked, a week later I bought the game installed it and haven't stopped playing since. It's very addicting and fun to play.

Awesome!

Strengths: The graphics and game-play are incredible. Far more immersing than the prior Call of Duty titles.

Weakness: It takes forever to install this program (roughly 30 minutes on my system!). There are also already four (4!) patches for a product that's barely a month old. Not a sign that it was well tested.

The graphics and game-play are fantastic in this game. I'm a big fan of the Call of Duty series, and CoD 4 is by far the best looking game so far. Of course, that's to be expected since it's the newest. What wasn't expected was just how engaging the levels are to play. There's certainly lots of "fog of war" feelings happening, and you really are instilled with a sense of urgency during each mission. I've played the first few levels, and really need to find more free-time to play the rest! This game rocks!

Heed the Call!

Strengths: Great multi, great single, great everything.

Weakness: None.

Call of Duty 4 is the first true spiritual sucessor to the HL Mod firearms. Firearms was fantastic and CoD4 replicates some of its best features. The use of modern weaponry, the perk system to customize characters, and fantastic multiplayer. The game single player is short but intense. But you'll play for days in muklti so it makes up for that.

CoD4 is the best game on the PC this year.

wow...

Strengths: Amazing graphics, good balance between realistic and arcade game play.

Weakness: Relatively short single play mission.

Overall this is an extremely well done game, the attention to detail is wonderful. It still saddens me that the single player mission is really not that long. If your graphics card can handle the high detailed graphics then go for it, if not I don't think that the game play alone will justify the price of the game currently but if you have a good graphics card than buy it, it's amazing.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

The original Call of Duty set the bar awfully high for war-based shooters, and very rarely has one been able to surpass it. The series has maintained its momentum, pumping out new entries to the franchise and winning substantial acclaim as the top series for World War II action. However, whereas most franchises would be content to not stir the pot by going in a new direction, the team at Infinity...
