Strengths: Quality cables, 480p for HD picture, price
Weakness: Only 480p
A must for those with HD TVs. Will only go up to 480P but will be much better than composite and s-video. Price has gone down and can be found for about $13-$15 at amazon. Get it now and you will enjoy your Wii a lot more than you already do!

If you have a TV that can support 480p input, I highly recommend you get this cable. Games like Zelda and Resident Evil 4 for the Wii look so much better than the composite video cable that comes with the unit. There are generic versions of this cable and they all basically work the same. I went with the officially branded version since I found a great deal on them combined with the $5 Pricegrabber bonus rebate.

Weakness: None other than the fact that Wii fails to provide HD resolution, regardless of the cable involved
It's Nintendo's Wii console cable for use with TVs that have component input jacks. Nothing fancy, just what you'll need to get the maximum possible resolution out of your Wii. Still a big notch below Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of resolution, but oh well.
There are 3rd party cables that are a few bucks less expensive and do the same thing.

Strengths: Much clearer picture at 480p, no signal noise issues
Weakness: More expensive than 3rd party products
The official Nintendo Wii component cables allow the Wii to output to a 480p EDTV/HDTV resolution. Colors look much vivid and the overall picture looks much crisper. The cost is higher than the 3rd party alternatives, though there's not been any signal noise issue that some 3rd party cable suffer from. For anyone with an EDTV or HDTV, this is a must-have.

Strengths: good quality cable, easy to hook up, 480p looks good
Weakness: some jaggedness of pins noticed in wii bowling
I would recommend this product if you have a wii and a HDTV. The picture looks sharper although I noticed some jagged edges of the bowling pins in wii bowling. Other than that, everything else looks great! If you can get it for a good price then I'd say go for it.

Strengths: Able to get 480p resolution using the Wii.
Cheap price
Works well
Weakness: Only 480p, but then again that's the maximum the Wii can output anyways.
If only the Wii supported something better, like 720p. But hey, at least 480p is better than 480i or something even less by default. It looks decent on my 42" Sony XBR2 LCD 1080p screen, and noticeably better than before. But then again it pales in comparison to my PS3 with native 1080p resolution with games or blu-ray movies... but that's to be expected. It's still a great product and a must for people with newer TVs to have.

I considered this such an essential item for my Wii setup that I held off playing Zelda Twilight Princess on my launch Wii because these cables were not available at first. Now they are easy to find and are an essential part of the Wii setup if you have an HDTV or even a standard television that accepts the higher-quality component inputs. Nearly all Wii games support progressive scan (480p) and that makes for a sharper and brighter picture on an HDTV over standard 480i, and in particular over 480i through the standard composite cables (included with the system). If you have an HDTV, you absolutely must get component cables.
The Nintendo-branded component cables for the Wii have worked very well. The cables are good construction quality and the picture is crisp and vibrant in 480p. You may be able to find other third-party component cables for the Wii, but if you go that route, ensure that they are Wii-specific cables. The Wii uses a proprietary connector for AV cables, which your standard cables off the shelf will not support.
Excellent 1st party product. Definitely worth picking up of you have component inputs. The Wii is only capable of 480p, but that's still a lot better than S-video or *shudder* composite.
Strengths: -Provides best possibile resolution from the Wii
Weakness: -Should have been provided with the console
In this day and age, Nintendo should have included the component cables in the package. Upon release, these weren't even available. Then the demand was so high, you were lucky to get a set by January. The change between 480i and 480p can make a huge difference depending on the game and on the TV. You might as well get the most out of your $250 investment and play your games with Progressive Scan. Buy it now and don't look back!
These cables do significantly improve picture quality over the composite cables. However, the first party accessory is expensive compared to third party alternatives. Like others posting reviews, I think Nintendo should have included the cables with the system.
The Wii isn't about graphics so don't expect high definition like a PS3. The cables do give you significantly better graphics (480p) and widescreen aspect ratio. It's definitely enough of an improvement to be worth the price. I tried buying a cheap third party version first and the picture had wavy white bands moving up the screen. The Nintendo version is worth the premium.
Strengths: better picture quality than original wii cable
Weakness: pricy
this will upgrade your picture quality to 480p but do not expect picture quality of 1080 as wii is not capable of 1080. but over all it does show a better picture quality and great for someone with HDTV.
The Wii Component cables are excellent! Browsing using the internet channel is much clearer. Additionally, some of the colors seem more vibrant and the lines are crisp and clean. Highly recommended. It isn't going to do wonders for only 480p, but it is a noticeable improvement. I prefer purchasing the official cables (read: they are expensive) but cheaper generic ones can be found elsewhere that work just as well.
Strengths: Nintendo first party cables you know you can trust.
Weakness: Pretty expensive when compared to some third party cables.
For the most part, I try to buy first party accessories all the time because they tend to have less problems. So when I got a television that had inputs for component cables, I had to get these first party component cables. Not much to say about them. They allow users to enable 480p on their televisions. Component cables are a must if you have a television that allows for progressive scan. In the end, I think it's worth it to buy these first party component cables instead of taking a small chance on someone else's cables.
Strengths: much better than original composite cable
Weakness: not cheap
Although it is not cheap, it worths the money. It improves the picture quality. If you are wii fan and you have a good tv, you definitely need to buy one.
Weakness: Nothing, unless you wish the Wii had true HD
The Nintendo Wii component cables are top notch. If you have a HD set and want the best picture quality out of that set up, getting these is the way to go.
While not HDMI, these cables do a serviceable job and is the best you are gonna get for now.
I've always been a fan of Nintendo first part accessories as they've always had good quality control.
Component cables are better than standard RCAs. Things are less jaggy. They should be bundled with the console, but manufacturers come up with any way to squeeze a few extra bucks out of customers. Worth it if you can find them for a nice price.
Weakness: More expensive than alternative solutions
These cables do the job, they provide a sharper image compared to the cables that come with the Wii system. If your tv supports component cables, I suggest you get the component cables. They are a little on the expensive side compared to third party alternatives. I prefer first party accessories, so I went with this one. However, they do get the job done.
Strengths: Nintendo OEM, Noticeable difference from composite cables
Weakness: Pricey, should've been included with the console
I noticed an immediate difference when switching from the included composite cables to the $30 component cable. The difference is obvious especially when using the Opera web browser. Text is a lot clearer. Unfortunately, component cables will offer the clearest output available for the Wii and I highly recommend that others take advantage of it.
My only complaints are that it should have been included with the Wii and that Nintendo charges nearly 3x as much as third-party competitors.
Nintendo Wii Component Video Cable
Strengths: Quality cables, 480p for HD picture, price
Weakness: Only 480p
A must for those with HD TVs. Will only go up to 480P but will be much better than composite and s-video. Price has gone down and can be found for about $13-$15 at amazon. Get it now and you will enjoy your Wii a lot more than you already do!
