Bought somewhere else...for more $$ :(

Strengths: It's an amazing drive. Much quieter than I expected (and I had high expectations...), much quicker than I expected, and runs MUCH cooler than I expected. Overall, 6/5.

Weakness: I can't afford another one for RAID 0.

This drive is amazing. I'm upgrading from a 250GB JS (8mb cache 250gb SATA 3.0Gb/s drive), and the differences are insane. The JS is loud, hot, slow and noisy, while this drive is just the opposite. The AAKS is the coolest running component in my system, while the JS is the only thing that goes above 50c. This drive, in an 80-90f ambient temp, has NEVER seen anything above 40c. 38c the other day...it was almost 100 in here!! :(

My thoughts on the WD Cavier SE16

Strengths: excellent size vs price point, SATA interface, Western Digital quality and warrenty, good size cache (16mb)

Weakness: the biggest weakness of this drive is the 7,200 RPM speed. also if you purchase it OEM you will not receive cables, screws, or formatting software.

I am very happy with this drive. I have only had it around a few weeks, but so far it has performed very well. The size of the HDD is enough for the Vista OS and tons of installed games and software. I also believe Western Digital has a very strong reputation for warrenty support of their products.

Nice Quiet, Cool Running Drive

Strengths: Runs Quiet and cool.

Weakness: None Noted

This drive runs nice and fast, yet quiet and cool to the touch. I recently removed the drive from my computer and put it in an external enclosure. I can hardly hear the drive running right next to me. There is a good chance that I will buy this drive again to use as replacement drives in my office.

Fast

Strengths: Fast, runs cool

Weakness: WD drive setup/migration tools pale in comparison to the excellent ones offered for free by Seagate/Maxtor.

There's not too much to say about this drive other than it runs cool & is very fast due to its one platter design. I've installed this drive in our file server and it's working tremendously (we work with small files... 8GB of data in 5 years!).

I had considered putting 2 in a RAID 1 configuration, but decided to have one in an external enclosure for backup duties.

I will definitely be using this drive in other PC builds/rebuilds!

Good Buy!!

Strengths: Fairly simple to install, Windows XP SP2 instantly recognized the SATA Hard Drive and it was up & running in 10 minutes.

Weakness: No eSATA Cable or instruction manual in the package!

Got the HD from CLUBIT.com; Good price for the product and great service!! One week later, bought some additional memory from CLUBIT. No problem sofar! I would recommend CLUBIT for PC-related products!!
