4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

Strengths: None

Weakness: Tooo slow

The product is fake Sony product. Card shows made in Japan. While Package shows made in Canada. I checked the Sony web site and couldn't find the card model at all. Customer service is poor. Speed is too slow. It takes 10 minutes to copy a 1GB file.

4GB Mem. Stick Pro Duo

Strengths: Lots of memory to store mp3's, video, and pics

Weakness: none

I was going to buy an ipod until I saw this 4GB memory stick. Now I just put 10 whole albums on my Sony Ericsson W810i at 128mbps and I still have over 3,400 MB left to store more music. It's quick and easy to insert. I haven't had any problems or complications. I am extremely pleased with this product and recommend it to all my friends.

Great for the PSP

Strengths: Large capacity

Weakness: None

Excellent for playing movies on your PSP. I am very happy with these 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Cards. Once the files have been converted to play on the PSP, you can fit up to 5 movies on one.

4 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo - Great Product

Strengths: Lots of space. Great for storing movies, game saves, mp3 files, pictures.

Weakness: A little slower than my 1GB memory stick when transitioning from a game back to the main screen.

I got this memory stick in order have tons of space on my psp for movies on the go and mp3 files while still having plenty of space for game saves. The ability to convert and store entire movies directly on the memory stick make this product awesome. This 4GB memory stick serves this purpose perfectly. The only negative I noticed is that there is a bit of a pause (blank screen) for a few seconds when you take a UMD game or movie out of the psp and just want to get back to the main screen. Otherwise, this is a great product that expands the use of your psp tremendously.

Sony 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo

Strengths: Does everything it's supposed to and comes with its own adapter, allowing for use in older cameras or media card readers.

Weakness: The build quality is a little lacking, as the top side of the card does have an inclination to come off when the card is bent, even slightly, requiring a gentle hand when handling this card.

Despite the less-than-expected build quality, this card performs just as it should. It's got a large capacity and is fast enough for anything that I could require from it. The only real problem with the top side of the card shell coming off would be experienced or troublesome to people who move the card from camera to camera to computer to reader etc. constantly. Leaving it in the camera and transferring pictures through included cables, as I normally do, eliminates all cause for worry regarding this small issue. Overall I'm very pleased with this card.

Great memory stick!

Strengths: 1. 4 Gb in the size of a stamp! 2. Fast transfer rate for taking hi-res (640 x 480 pix @ 30 fps) videos on my Sony DSC-H2 camera (no hicups yet!). 3. Stick holds 1300+ pics @ 6 Mp resolution!

Weakness: None so far 8-)

I purchased the Sony DSC-H2 camera for its video and picture taking capabilities. In order to capture all of the data this camera generates, a high-capacity/fast storage medium is required. The 4 Gb Memory Stick PRO Duo definitely fits the bill. Can't wait until the 8 Gb sticks are available!

4 GB the way to go

Strengths: Enormous capacity!

Weakness: none

This is the must for any memory stick duo users out there. Endless capacity to hold whatever you shove in. May think this would be a bit too pricey, but rather have one 4 GB than 4, 1GBs. Awesome product.

Strengths: Space

Weakness: None that I know of.

4 GB good to go

Strengths: Maximum capacity for maximum enjoyment of your digital device. Ships with an adapter for traditional Memory Stick (non-Duo) devices.

Weakness: Price-per-megabyte/gigabyte a little higher at this level. Only 3.66 GB actually available--but PriceGrabber says this on the front end.

A 6-MP camera goes from a seven-shot capacity to being able to shoot 1,293 shots--the equivalent of 47 single-use cameras with 27 exposures each, or more than 53 24-exposure rolls.

You will likely pay more per GB than you could with sticks having a lesser capacity--but you avoid having to take four or eight sticks with you and risk losing them.

Best practice: get a separate Memory Stick Pro Duo card reader to download your photos. Still, with only this one stick, you have space enough for several trips.

Use the adapter to transfer your shots to any Memory Stick PRO device, such as a printer with card-reading slots.

Complete memory Solution

Strengths: Sony corporation & memory

Weakness: None so far

Sony 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Card is just a boon for music lovers I had W 700i when i got 4Gb memory stick my W 700i became a model music player with 4 Gb memory .Now I can store more than 700 song in my mobile. now i carry my whole music collection with me anytime I go anywhere to my tours or any to my friends parties it dynamic memory becomes center of attraction . It has a good transfer rate so I just download songs from net on my labtop &then transfer it to my Memory stick. It is also not so heavy on pocket . In near future I am planning to buy 1 more like this because of its reasonable price & memory.

Memory Stick Pro Duo

Strengths: Great memory capacity of the size. Sony's reputation. Compatible with a wide varity of devices. Price.

Weakness: None, exacty what I needed until there is a larger one avaliable.

I got this 4gb Memory Stick Pro Duo card for my PSP to upgrade from a 2gb card & it has been a great asset. Now I can load all the music, picture, video & games my little heart desires. When Sony first introducted this format I was skeptical, not to be sucked into the Beta or MiniDisc death all over again. The difference is the support that Sony has showed to the format. I also use a Cyber-shot digital camera & the ability to swap back & forth is great. Also the different adapter available make it a great format with many uses.

Great so far!

Strengths: Extensive storage space, ideal great for high resolution cameras

Weakness: None so far

I purchased this 4 gb card from Fry's for only $85! It's worth shopping around for, especially if you'll be loading a lot of data on it and you don't like to erase the data off the card frequently. Try to get a good deal. Check out slickdeals.net/forums/ because you'll get a lot of good leads there, or consider trying techbargains.com.

The card usually comes with an adaptor or a case, so be sure of those when you purchase it. The quality seems fine - I have no complaints!

4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

Strengths: Lots of room for files and music. A good purchase for now and the future.

Weakness: None

Although touted as a memory stick for the SONY PSP, I am using it in my cell phone which uses the same memory card type. It holds all the music I want on it so far and gives me plenty of room for long videos and tons of pictures.

Holds a lot of pictures

Strengths: Compact size

Weakness: High price

The memory stick works great and holds more pictures than I could ever take but the price seems a bit steep. There are generic alternatives, but when I bought mine, the generics were even more expensive. Look for a good sale and you'll be happy with this card.

Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo

Strengths: Full plug and play compatibility with my Sony Ericson W810i cell phone and PSP. Noticeable difference in write speed over the traditional "Non-PRO" Memory Sticks.

Weakness: Sony advertises this as a 4GB unit, but it truly only holds 3.66GB (which is published on the PriceGrabber product description)

Overall impressions of the 4GB Memory Stick are definitely positive. When you buy Sony, you're buying 100% compatibility with all Sony products. As expected, I plugged my new memory card into my Sony-Ericsson W810i cell phone with immediate success. The write time is noticeably faster than the "Non-PRO" Memory Stick it originally came with decreasing my MP3 upload time substantially.

4GB Sony Memory Stick - Hassle Free & Amazing Quality

Strengths: Fast Read/Write Times. No Processing lags when recording videos onto this MemStick. Both MemStick & PC Adapter are Solid/Durable Quality (they do not feel cheap). Sony Brand Quality & Reliability.

Weakness: None found so far and I use the memory stick in my camera to record videos and take photos DAILY.

Transfer rate is faster than previous, Non-Sony memory cards I have had. There is very little processing time when we record videos from our Digital Camera to this card. HUGE capacity and fast read/write times make this card a true value. Also, you can rest assured that you are buying quality because of the brand - Sony. You can't go wrong. The PC adapter that comes with it does not feel flimsy or cheap in anyway... Seems like it will stand the test of time and my personal abuse!! Great Product. Would defintely recommend to anyone out there. I use it in both my digicam (during the day) and PSP (at night) without any formatting problems. Just saves the data and keeps on going! I love it.

4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card

Strengths: Card is fast and reliable.

Weakness: Not an 8GB card

For the price I initially thought that this was a refurb or a previously owned but found that it was a new factory packed item. I have been using this for my PSP and my only regret is that it is not a bigger card to hold more stuff. No question that this card is a great card!

4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card

Strengths: Strenghts include: ease of use right out of package, storage capacity, data transfer rate, and comes packaged with a memory stick adapter for use in digital cameras and other electronic devices.

Weakness: No weaknesses come to mind for this product

The 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card was designed for use in the Sony PSP and other Sony products that use the Magic Gate memory card and it shows. Everything about the product is top-notch and works just as one would expect it to. From the design of the memory card to the storage capacity, everything is topnotch. I personally use this card in my Sony PSP Thin and it performs flawlessly.

4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card

Strengths: plenty of space

Weakness: slow to save images. have had a bunch of issues with saving in general

I purchased this to use in a new Sony 10 megapixel camera. Obviously it has tons of space. However, it was not saving pictures. Kept giving me a "file error" message. I used other memory cards in the camera and have not had any problems. I tried the memory stick in my PSP and get the same "file error" message some times. I have re-formated and everything...just got a bad one.

Strengths: Price, and quality.

Weakness: None.

You can save $20 by buying two 4GB sticks instead of the 8GB stick. Works great in my PSP. Can put about 4-5 movies on a stick depending on the length of the movies. Comes in handy for long trips.

Shop at your own risk!

Strengths: The card worked. Don't know if it was slower than an original sony product though.

Weakness: A fake sony ms.

I have read about fake sony ms cards. The seller listed the REAL sony part #. However, when I received the ms card it was not the same REAL/LEGIT sony part #. It did not look like a LEGIT sony ms card. I tested in my psp and it did not recognize the "MagicGate" on the card. I got my refund back from seller with no hassles. TIP: If you are paying sony-price for a sony product, make sure it's a REAL sony product. I wouldn't have mind buying a knock-off, if only I wasn't paying sony-price for it. If you want a knock-off, go find it elsewhere and you're guaranteed to get your money's worth. If you want LEGIT sony, shop at trusted sites-newegg, best buy, etc.

Memory$tick - "BetaMax" for Today's World

Strengths: Works only in $ony equipment.

Weakness: Works only in $ony equipment.

The $ony Memory$tick is a perfect example of what a flash memory product would be like if our society had no controls against -- nay, actively embraced -- monopolistic behaviors by megalithic corporations.

The price of any representative MS device in the retail world easily doubles per unit storage capacity when compared to ANY other memory technology (i.e. SecureDigital, xD, the venerable CompactFlash, or even the paleolithic SmartMedia). Buying a 4 GB Memory$tick Pro Duo for about $50 US I thought was an incredible bargin compared to the $99 (or higher) I see in the retail brick-and-mortar establishments. However when comparing those prices to the $39 tag for a similar-sized SecureDigital card, well...

How does the Memory$tick survive in this modern business climate? By being the "only game in town" if you own a $ony product. $ony created the MS specification by itself without assistance from, or cooperating with, any other business or technology entity (all the other above-mentioned technologies were joint-development ventures between at least two companies). $ony's consumer-electronic products that need or are enhanced by removable digital-storage media only sport the MemoryStick interface.

The day you see a $ony product with (for example) a SecureDigital port is the day the world ends and the Rapture is upon us!

This is just another example of the old wag, "The only thing Man learns from history is that Man does not learn from history." $ony's most famous "go it alone and watch the world ignore us" gambit was the BetaMax videotape machine of the 1970s. Yes, the Beta was a technically superior system, and is still in use with its root market (professionals such as television news crews, for example) from which the consumer version sprung, but VHS was cheaper to produce and was available from several competing sources, so who cared if the picture and sound quality suffered in comparison?

$ony's runner-up boondoggle was the MiniDisc. The only reason the MD survived as long as it did was heavy product-placement in some big-budget motion pictures. Even then, the product and support for it in terms of pre-recorded and blank media dried up like a Sarahan ice cube.

Yes, the Memroy$tick is available from sources other than $ony, but the royalty Sony extracts from the likes of SanDisk (and possible Lexar?) probably soaks up any discount that might appear at the retail level.

Can you say, "Not Invented Here?"

And speaking of "Not Invented Here," what is it with $ony and its "Fun Policy?" By that, I mean that you can only use a $ony-branded product in a $ony-sanctioned manner. Case-and-point, Bleem. Go ahead, google it. For the rest of you, Bleem was a Windows application created by this kid back in the late 1990s that would allow you to play PlayStation One games on a PC. This would have given PC users (who didn't have PS1s) a reason to give money to $ony (keep in mind that the now-clunky PS1 sold at a loss for $300 in its heyday 15+ years ago -- lots of folks simply couldn't shell out the bucks on the system). Sounds like a great idea, huh? Not to Sony. They unleashed their lawyers on this kid faster than a cheetah in heat. Not invented here -- doesn't matter if it brings me free money. Kill it. Thanks, $ony.

Fast-forward about ten years. Now that PSP homebrewers have come up with interesting and novel ways to tweak extra functionality out of the PSP, $ony's gone out of its way to make it nigh impossible to create one's own programs for this useful little device. Firmware keeps getting released to shut down these capabilities in the PSP. $ony supposedly owns EVERY UMD burner on the planet. If you want to create a title for the PSP, it has to physically go through $ony's front door.

BTW, if you want this card to be readable by a card-reader OTHER THAN the PSP itself, don't format it in the PSP. Rather, create the same directories by hand by plugging the card into a card reader in your computer.

...and don't get me started on DRM. That's a different rant. Same for rootkits secretly embedded in $ony-BMG audio CDs...and therefore in EVERY Windows machine that ever played them...with no possibility of cleanly removing said rootkit short of reformatting the hard drive.

I guess that's why "$ony" is a four-letter word.

Oh, and by the way, the card works just fine in my PSP. Thanks for reading this far. :)

Great performance, great size, great price

Strengths: Can't beat 4GB for Pro Duo card. Data transfer is as fast as USB and PSP will allow, which is plenty fast. Comes with USB adapter, which is great.

Weakness: None so far. Extremely satisfied.

It's 4GB and it fits into my PSP very nicely, so I have no complaints. I have four converted .mpgs, three different game data saves, some photos, and more saved onto it with no problems. Would definitely buy again (and plan to).

What is there to say, really? 4 GB of memory in a micro package. The perfect addition to the SONY DCR-HC series MiniDV camcorders. Weakness: Only does ~2mb/s, both inside/through the PSP (I've used PSXRMSTesterV1 and BlackSpeed) and pluged directly into the usb 2.0 card reader (3Gbs I was transfering / time it took).

Sonystyle.com says:
"Transfer Speed{parallel transfer} 160Mbps (20MB/sec)
Minimum Write Speed 15Mbps2"

Well, it barely matches the 15mbps (just under 2MBs). Unless I am doing something wrong to get the magical "parallell transfer".

The card and the package it came in look legit (with a reflective Sony sticker on the inside), although these poor transfer rates sure do make me wonder.

If I knew what I know now about its transfer rates, I would have payed the extra 10-15$ to get a Sandisk Ultra II (which is by all accounts I can find x3+ times faster in real transfer speeds). When you are getting a large card like that, chances are you will be moving some large files around and you probably don't want to sit around for 30 minutes while it transfers.

I feel I was totally mislead by Sony's "160 mbps" plug. I guess I should have done more research before I bought.

I'll give the card 3 stars, just because I feel mislead. If speed does not matter to you, then this card is probably just as good as others and is ~10$ cheaper atm.

Sony 4GB Pro Duo Memory stick

Strengths: Great expanse of memory for Sony Ericsson W810i walkman phone!

Weakness: None so far...

Wow! For anyone with a W810i walkman phone, YES- you can expand your memory up to 4GB with this stick! Music and videos abunda! The sony pro duo 4gb allowed me to get rid of my clunky ipod, and only carry around my little phone that now holds ALOT of music, interim photos i shoot, videos and downloads..Havent noticed any changes in performance other than extra memory compared to the 1gb stick i used previously... Purchased it at an extremely good price, but would readily pay the $25 difference I'm seeing it being sold for now! THE MEMORY SPACE IS AWESOME! btw, my card is a REAL magicgate msx-m4gs, not a copy...

Sony 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card

Strengths: Small, convenient, large capacity

Weakness: None so far

I bought several of these to use with my Sony VAIO notebook. I use them as a solid state backup solution for my code under development. While I had Unix loaded on the notebook, I kept a CVS database on the memory stick. This worked very well and gave me a warm feeling about my code being safely backed up in several ways and in several places. I haven't had any reliability issues and it has a large capacity IMHO. When a larger capacity chip is available, I will buy it also, but for now I consider it a sweet product. I think external firewire/USB drives with power supplies are too clunky. For my use as a medium that can be switched quickly from the notebook to a desktop machine, it works very well. All in all, a good buy.

does what i paid for.

Strengths: 4 gig cheap!

Weakness: sony changes memory formats every year. how long till this is obsolete?

duo is fine. sony should stick to one format. i believe this hurst them as they change memory formats every year. make me thin kof not buying sony products because of the forced changes. memory stick pro,now pro duo, oh by the way the old memory will not work so pony up and buy some. would not buy sony camera for this reason alone. otherwise how can you screw up a memory stick right? loved where i bought it from. price min store front.

4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card

I merely bought these as additional memory to avoid carrying more more equipment. I only rudimentarily tested them by taking some pics, viewing them, erasing them and taking more. I don't know anything about speed or other technical things.

4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

Strengths: Big and fast

Weakness: None

Being able to store a huge number of pics on a memory card means that the only limitation is battery. shoot a 100 pics and keep the couple you like -- who cares. It's the beauty of digital photography

4 Gigabyte Sony Memory Stick

Strengths: Exactly what it claimed to be, excellent storage capacity.

Weakness: Takes 5 or 10 seconds for the camera to recognize it as a valid memory stick whe nI first turn it on.

I am delighted to have purchased the product for use on an upcoming roadtrip. The cost of the same item elsewhere was prohibiting me from buying one. Aside from a slow reaction time when the camera first turns on, the product has worked flawlessly.
