DreamCatcher Pax Romana

Strengths: It was released on time

Weakness: It was released unfinished and the customers became the beta testers.

Well after trying out Pax Romana and "attempting" to get a patch from the official forum, I can truely see the reviews are right on at 3.1 avg for this one.
The official forum is a laugh and a joke. They've got some nazish, fanatical moderator over there that, locks, deletes or BANS anyone that says anything against PAX and/or VICTORIA! lol This guy is a total nut case, I've read a few threads that he's locked and banned people in and he allows no negative comments at all without malice. I really thought forums were suppose to be OPEN ENDED and not BIASED, perhaps I am wrong, but, it seems these aren't really forums at all, they are more like HOUSE RULES and the first command of any house rule is DON'T TALK BAD ABOUT MY GAME! lol If it sucks don't tell anyone, we (the developers) need all the money we can get, whether the game is good or not, we still need that money! LOL

Shame this game suks so badly, really was hoping for something good before ROME:TW came out in that particular time period. Wonder why most ancient turn based games during the roman time period suck so badly and get such bad reviews, such as LEGION. I was really interested in that until I read the reviews of it. Guess I'll just have to wait until a DECENT game company like CA develops ROME:TW

Oh and since this is an OPEN forum, VICTORIA really does suck noodles! LOL But, not to totally nix PARADOX, after seven patches EUII is really rather good. Shame it takes SEVEN patches to finally get a FIX version of the flawed game though, don't you think?

Anyways thought those that read this might like to know how bad PAX ROMANA is out of the box (many crashes to desktop and parts during the game you cannot control, like time) and that there is no patch in site at the moment, seems to be a conflict of interest between the publishers and most likely resources (money) to fix it in the first place! LOL GAYLICK won't get anymore of my money, but, then again they didn't get any anyways, I had a 7 day return ability from the software house I purchased it from.

Save your money on this one and wait for ROME:Total War it is going to blow gaming away as we know it now. ;)

Did you find it helpful or unhelpful?

Pax Romana

After their games are released, we often hear developers state that this feature or that got iced because it got in the way of the fun. Sometimes it's an excuse, but many times it's because the designers are smart enough to recognize the difference between fun and homework. Packed with breathtaking detail, Galilea's Pax Romana is everything anyone could want in a simulation of the Roman Empire...

Pax Romana

The formula in the genre of strategy games is relatively basic. You manage materials, you build an army and you conquer. Pax Romana, a PC release from Dreamcatcher and Galilea, has added some interesting twists to that formula. While the game does pay attention to the economic base, and certainly employs some of the strategic military, there is also a lot of attention played to the political...
