Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Not only does it have much better battery consumption and range for connection than the mx700, but it is much more user friendly.

Weakness: Even at $75, it's still quite expensive.

MX700 was a good mouse, but suffered from battery consumption issues and connection issues. I stopped using the charger completely because it was a chore to get the mouse connected properly to it.
MX900 remedies these problems and then some. Hardcore gaming for two days straight off batteries that are none too new have still not caused the red low battery light to flash. The hub/charger is quite intelligent and searches for devices such as the mouse at startup so I haven't had to hit the connect buttons since initial installation. Also included is software that tells the intricacies of the mouse in great detail.
Whilie I have no Bluetooth devices other than the mouse to try out, I tried to get some interference and static with other 2.4 ghz sources such as a cordless phone and my Amphony 2000 wireless headphones but got little to none from both. Not to mention that the mouse can supposedly be used approximately 30 feet away from the hub successfully. I haven't tried such a distance yet, but 10 feet away it worked like a charm.
Overall it's a good mouse that I hope lasts me longer than its predecessor did.

Disappointing

Strengths: Cordless, rechargeable, easy-to-use and programmable thumb buttons

Weakness: Excessive battery consumption, very "touchy" recharger base, horrendously buggy and incompatible drivers, useless technical support documents

I bought this as a replacement for my MX700 that croaked after 2 years of service, with the expectation that I could use the bluetooth capability to sync my Palm and other devices to the computer.
This mouse has been trouble from day one. I've noticed that the charger base is touchy, in that you have to have the mouse in there EXACTLY right or it will not recharge. I had the same problem with my MX700 in its latter days.
The drivers (Logitech Setpoint) are the absolute worst I have ever seen, and I have been using computers for 18 years now. They are buggy, unstable, cause the mouse to fail to connect almost every time, and will inactivate the programmable buttons on the side. The Widcomm bluetooth drivers are just as bad. I've used this MX900 on two computers now (I just bought a new computer) and had the same problem.
If you're dead set on a Logitech mouse, buy the MX700 and get a USB bluetooth adaptor if you need it, and save yourself the headache by NOT installing the Logitech software.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Great mouse with a great communication setup.

Weakness: None, unless you really need a mouse with PS/2

I purchased this mouse before thinking that I needed a PS/2 mouse because of my KVM switch. The mouse is great and the base even acts as a Bluetooth port for other Bluetooth electronics.

It just wasn't a mouse that I could use and I wanted to remind people that need a PS/2 mouse that it won't work for them. But, if you can use a USB mouse, I would definately recommened this mouse, especially if you have a bluetooth phone or PDA that you connect to your computer.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Great range and resolution. Also gain bluetooth hub with ability to connect to other bluetooth devices.

Weakness: None found so far.

I also use the mouse with a mini bluetooth adapter for great flexibility with my laptop PC. I get full multi-function mouse capabilities without having to also drag along a large "dongle" on the road, when I don't want to use the Logitech hub!

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: The size is about the same size as a regular mouse. No noticeable difference. The sensativity is very good for everyday uses. I am not a PC gamer, so I can't comment on the gaming side.

Weakness: I have not had any complaints.

I was looking for a Bluetooth mouse that I could use with the Bluetooth chip in my laptop. I really didn't need the hub, but found it hard to find the right mouse. I have been nothing but satisfied with the MX900. It is very sensative and it reconnects to the PC in less than 2 seconds after idle time. The battery life is usually about 4 to 5 hours of continous use. It recharges in about 2 hours. I have no complaints with the battery life. I have been impressed with this mouse and would recommend it to anyone.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Precise, smooth, wide range, long battery life, bluetooth hub works pretty well

Weakness: A little bit heavy, pricy, not for PS/2, not for Mac

I happened to try out MX700 first, which I didn't like only because it's weak battery life, heavy weight, and short connection range (which I'll need to browse DVD when sitting back). I wouldn't have given MX900 a shot if I didn't bought a bluetooth cellular phone: I need a bluetooth hub for my PC to connect the phone, and considering the price difference of MX700 and MX900 it seems to be a good deal, and the 10m connection range is better too. Well, I'm glad I did... MX900 doesn't disappoint me at all. Although it's still as heavy as MX700, I'm very satisfied with it's performance and I'm actually surprised at its battery life too-- once fully charged after 10 days it's the level is still good, unlike MX700, which asked for a recharge after ~ 3 days.

Overall, I'm very happy with this product and I'll recommend it to everyone, especially those who need longer range connection and wants a bluetooth hub, as well as a wireless mouse that you don't have to charge it so often.

*Remark* If you're switching MX700 to MX900, remember to uninstall the software for MX700 first though... Or the bluetooth software and driver for MX900 will somehow have difficulty to detect and connect MX900.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Plenty of buttons and recharchable battery

Weakness: No driver for the OS X operating system as yet

This product is fantastic - although there are no drivers for apple computers as yet it still works with them (you just cannot get the battery life remaining from system preferences and the extra buttons are only usuable in a few applications unfortunately).

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Very Ergonomic, Smooth tracking, Ease of set up and daily usage

Weakness: Bulky base, Expensive, No power off switch

I bought a G4 Powerbook with built-in bluetooth, so I figured I'd give the MX900 a try, since Apple's one button bluetooth mouse is a bit too simple. Set up was a breeze: I put the batteries in, went to system preferences to search for bluetooth devices, and presto! It took less than 1 minute. The accuracy is great, and tracking is smooth. I have not experienced any response time delays, and there were no problems with the connection after the computer wakes up from sleep.

The drawback:
The basestation/charger is rather bulky. It needs to be connected to an AC outlet and to the USB port on your computer, which defeats the purpose of wireless! It is great if you don't have bluetooth on your computer, because it acts as a hub so you can connect other bluetooth devices as well. Since I have built in bluetooth on my laptop, I dont even connect the base station unless i need to charge the mouse.

Design:
I love the feel and shape of the mouse. It might be a bit too large for people with large hands, but it contours to my medium size hands great. I also use the extra buttons and scroll wheel.

Final Answer:
I love it! If you have a laptop with a trackpad, you know how annoying it is to use that thing. This mouse really makes my time on the computer more effecient.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: easy set up. blue tooth base works with other bluetooth enabled devices

Weakness: battery last about 2 days. Takes about 15 seconds for windows XP to recognize blue tooth devices

I have had this for a few days and the mouse is very responsive. Buttons are very intuitive, especially the back and forward page buttons near your right thumb. The only complaints I have are the relatively short battery life at 2 days and the fact that there is a 15-30 second delay where windows does not recognize the mouse during start up.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Precision, battery life, cordless, many buttons

Weakness: Price, bulkiness

This mouse is excellent. Easy to install. Rechargable batteries last at least 10 days with ~3 hours/day use. Multitude of buttons makes this mouse very convenient. Pointer movement is smooth and precise on variety of surfaces. Have not had a chance to use bluetooth hub as I do not have any bluetooth devices except this mouse. The only downsides are high price and the size of the mouse, which might be too bulky for someone with small hands.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Rechargable batteries w. low power indicator light. Easy to install.

Weakness: No support for browser buttons in Mac OS-X

This mouse is easy to install (much easier than getting this site to upload my review!) It works fine in Mc OS-X except for the browser back / forward buttons.
It is not quite as comfortable as the Intellimouse, but left handers should not it IS a right-handed mouse, even though photos make it appear symmetrical.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Bluetooth Connectivity

Weakness: UNCORRECTABLE, JERKY CURSOR MOVEMENT; Back/Forward buttons do not work in Firefox and other programs; Takes 10 seconds to connect at startup

My old MX700 became faulty after the TSA dropped it during a baggage check while moving to the US. I had to buy another mouse, so I chose the cordless desktop mx bluetooth. This comes with the mx900 and a Cordless Elite keyboard (which was fine).
However, I am extremely dissapointed in this mouse. The cursor does not slide fluidly across the screen; it jerks. It jumps shakily across the screen instead of moving fluidly. At first, I thought it was just me. I played around with the speed settings, acceleration, etc. But the jerkiness still bugged me. When your mouse is not moving fluidly, you can still use it, but you will notice this. For a 20 dollar mouse, this would be understandable, but for a hundred dollar one, it is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I tried so hard getting used to it, and even read more reviews saying how wonderfully sensitive and fluid this mouse is, but I couldn't shake off that terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. The "ripped-off" feeling.
The final straw was today, when, at my wits end, I decided to switch back to my old mx700 by plugging it into another USB socket.
I simply couldn't believe how fluid it was compared to it. I moved both mice, one after the other, sometimes in circles, sometimes in straight lines, and I couldn't believe I had put up with the mx900's terrible jerkiness for the past week after I saw what fluidity the old mx700 had. Keep in mind that the FAULTY, OLD mx700 moved substantially better than my BRAND NEW mx900. (The mx700 is known to be a faster mouse than the mx900 - Bluetooth has a lower refresh rate frequency (80hz) than the Fast RF technology (125hz) used by the mx700).

I don't know if this is a problem with my device, my software, or my computer. However, I will be sending this back on tuesday, and will be getting the regular cordless mx desktop with a new mx700. I really hope TigerDirect won't charge me restocking, because I'm already out $11 for shipping. Stay clear.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Works seamlessly, connects fast and easily

Weakness: Very heavy mouse, doesn't work as a bluetooth hub with Mac, bluetooth hub is bulky, not suitable for a laptop and portability

Having tried another bluetooth mouse (microsoft), I found this mouse to be more responsive and connected more easily than the microsoft mouse. Even though it wasn't Mac compatible, from the minute I plugged in the bluetooth charger/hub, it instantly found the mouse and was working correctly! My only complaint is that the mouse itself is very heavy, feels like a brick compared to my apple optical mouse and the bluetooth hub/charger isn't recognized by my G4 powerbook. Otherwise, the batteries are rechargeable, the mouse responds quickly without any lag and there are enough buttons on it to be confusing. I assume that Logitech will soon release a BT driver for Mac.

Bluetooth is still a developing technology, however it you want to get into the wireless mode this is a good product.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: The mouse and driver worked great right out of the box. This is a very precise mouse. Rechargable batteries are nice.

Weakness: None found yet.

I had bought this mouse specifically for use as a Bluetooth hub so that I could download apps to my Nokia phone (N-Gage). So far I am very pleased with the performance of the hub and mouse and also the driver/software seems solid. There is even a visual for the battery condition of the mouse.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Wireless makes less trouble to use.

Weakness: need to charge after certain hours of usage.

Personally I like to use "bluetooth" products, and Logitech Mx900 matches my requirement. This mouse is very comfortable to hold and the perfect design on scrolling makes it very convenient to use.

very comfortable and precise mouse

Strengths: good grip, good size for my hand, lots of buttons

Weakness: setpoint software not compatiable with some older logitech mice

the mx900 is a great mouse, very precise, great response, good grip, definitely a good buy.

one thing that i didnt like though...

i have a corded mx310 optical mouse, which runs on an older software called mouseware. the mx900 runs on a newer software called setpoint. the setpoint software does not support mice that run on mouseware, and you cant run mouseware and and setpoint together because they conflict. mind you, logitech still sells the mx310, so it is not an obsolete product. i wish that they made their new software backward compatiable so i dont have to throw away my perfectly good corded mouse.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Bluetooth hub, MX technology, good design.

Weakness: 2-3 seconds delay on the WinXP login screen, the same delay on the desktop.

I'm happy with my MX-900. The only small weakness I found is the delay on the first operation after PC boot-up. I have to shake the mouse and wait for 2-3 seconds before it starts responding on the Windows login screen, and the same thing on the desktop. This happens only ones after each reboot, then it works great without any delays.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: Bluetooth!

Weakness: Big oversize receiver.

I'm free, no more wires to fight, Used it 4 days all day, no problems. The size of the receiver is a little big, so it does not lend itself to mobile environments.

Logitech MX 900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse

Strengths: smooth, bluetooth works great, extra buttons are really handy

Weakness: little bit heavy

This is my first wireless mouse. I always want to buy the wireless mouse but all my friend told me all those bad thing about wirelsee mouse, such as battery life, in accurate...etc. Until few days ago when I was shopping for the bluetooth adaptor, I found this MX900 can fulfill my needs for both wireless mouse and bluetooth adaptor for a decent price. I tried this mouse for about 2 weeks now and it works really great, smooth and sharp.
