Xbox Live Starter Kit Version 3

Strengths: Easy to set-up the account and play.

Weakness: Weird headset

A lot of fun playing against others in various sports, racing, and fighting games. It is awesome playing against your friends as well as meeting new people and going head to head with them.

Xbox Live Starter Kit Version 3

Strengths: Easy to setup, fun to play

Weakness: Had trouble getting to work with router, cost money to play online - online play with PC is free.

Xbox Live is very fun to play and fairly easy to setup. The menu screens are easy to navigate. The only problem was getting it to connect to the internet via my Linksys router. I went to the Xbox Live web site and found the solution; after that it was easy.

Strengths: Everything

Weakness: Price (Mabye)

I love all the things you can do with it, from playing on the internet to downloading extra things for your games. Some of my friends play on Xbox Live so that makes it even better. I spend tons of time a day either playing Xbox Live or practicing on games to go play on Xbox Live. The price is the only down I would have to point out about Xbox Live, but I guess thats what you have to do to get all these features. Also you need to have DSL or Cable so that is an extra added price. But I would still recommend it to others, I find it to be very good.

Strengths: includes a game, headset and subscription

Weakness: cheaply made headset

The XBOX live kit comes with everything you need to jump online for 12months. It has a headset to allow communication with other players on live it comes with a full version of Mechassault. At places you can pick it up for a very cheap price $25.00. You can also use the subscription with XBOX 360.

Xbox Live

Strengths: Great all-in-one community structure, lots of games supported, Game(MechAssault) and headset included

Weakness: Pay-to-play service, Game Servers(or rooms) are still user-hosted

New to the online gaming on a console, I decided to try out Microsoft's Xbox Live service after hearing good reviews and for the most part I was not disappointed. The service is $50 a year but for $20 more I picked up the kit which included a headset accessory and full MechAssault game. The structure is setup very well, there is a universal friends list that spans all Xbox and Xbox 360 titles so you can keep in touch with fellow gamers and friends. Every game features voice communication to add extra depth to online gameplay. I was slightly disappointed to find out that this is basically all you pay for, since the burden of hosting game servers, except for a few exceptions, is placed on individual users. For the most part this isn't an issue though, most Xbox Live games are built with this in mind so gameplay is smooth and seamless. The $50/year price tag also isn't too bad if you figure it at $4+/month.

Also included with this kit was an official headset and a copy of MechAssault. The headset works great but the build quality is a little flimsy. It is adjustable and can go be worn on either the right or left side. MechAssault is a surprisingly fun title, there is a wide variety of "Mechs" available and there are numerous downloadable(free) bonus arenas, mechs and modes. The capture the flag mode in particular is lots of fun to play.
