The Simpson's Hit and Run for GameCube

Strengths: Fun game!

Weakness: None so far

The Simpson's Hit and Run for GameCube is loads of fun for the entire family - my older kids get a kick out of this one and love to play it over and over.

Finally a decent Simpsons game!

Strengths: Lots of fun references to the show.

Weakness: Driving control is subpar.

I haven't played a Simpsons game since Bart Vs The Space Mutants for the NES years ago. Apparently, I haven't missed much. Hit and Run, however, is a good game, with an excellent sandbox style of play and the fun of exploring Springfield and meeting its various residents. The play control when driving is somewhat inadequate, but the Simpsons fans will not be disappointed by this one.

Simpsons

Strengths: Great game! Plenty to do, or explore. Side Missions, and the whole Simpsons franchise around town.

Weakness: Nothing really

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Being a fan of the Simpsons definitely helped. If you are not a fan, you might not like this game as much. Either way it is a fun game, but you just won't get the references to the show that abound at every turn.
The core of this game is the driving aspect. Its almost like Grand Theft Auto in the sense that you can steal any car that you see. You basically drive around Springfield to complete goals. There are races, time periods to collect items, and even demolition derbys. The fun abounds in this game.
Towards the end you get a bit crazy with the living dead and aliens, but it still is classic Simpsons camp.
Buy it!

Fun for the first month then .....

Strengths: Fun simpsons references, good driving physics, and fun missions.

Weakness: The gameplay is the same, its alot of the same stuff repeated over and over again.

There are a few types of missions, they consist mostly of chase down another car, checkpoint rases, destroy another car, and collect items in a given time limit. The various mini games are all pretty much the same, but they are fun as is most of the game. I got about 2/3 the way thru it and just couldn't finish the rest of the game because its simply too much of the same, but for those simpsons fans out there, its definatly a must play game. Buy it used, cuz renting wouldn't be enough time (unless you play 12hrs a day), but I couldn't see paying $40 for it.

GTA meets Simpsons

Strengths: The fun of GTA without the excessive violence that the kids love, with the excessive Simpsons that the kids love

Weakness: Graphics are mediocre, no multiplayer

Simpsons Hit and Run is a great extension of the GTA engine to the world of the Simpsons. Creating a legitimate story combined with the fun of the Simpsons was the perfect choice. The missions are fairly short, but enjoyable, and the familiar locations you drive by regularly are nice.

If you like games like GTA/Driver, and/or are a big fan of the Simpsons, this game will go over well.

Simpson's Hit & Run

Strengths: Great character models and original voices, and fun, free-roaming locations that showcase places and people from the show.

Weakness: Some of the racing missions are a little tough, and coins are in short supply to unlock all the extra items.

This is one of my family's favorite Gamecube games. It combines an excellent TV show with a great game that highlights the best of both. You play through 7 sets of missions, each with a different character and location (though some of the characters get repeated in different locations). During each mission, you get closer to discovering an evil plot being carried out by aliens.

Each location features elements from the TV show, such as the Comic Book shop, Springfield General Hospital, the infamous tire fire and the monorail. As you roam freely you can choose to do the story missions, additional side missions, or just collect coins, cards, and take out buzzing bee's (which are really cameras controlled by the aliens). Most of the side missions involve races or timed collection runs. These can be a bit frustrating at times, but fortunately are entirely optional.

The coins that you collect can be used to obtain different vehicles and clothing for each character that you can play (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Apu). One minor problem that we ran into was that once all the loose coins are collected the only way to get more is to wager in races or collect them one at a time by smashing items. The problem was that, early on, we caused the "Hit & Run" meter to go off too many times (by crashing into too many people or objects) and were subsequently chased by the police and fined. This drained too many of our coins and when we got towards the end of the game we had to spend way too much time scrounging around to get coins to unlock vehicles we needed to finish the game.

Other than that minor frustration and some surprisingly hard story missions (thankfully, once you fail them a number of times you can skip them), the game is a blast. It is very funny and the graphics and sound are perfect.

Simpson HnR

Strengths: Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, Simpsonsness

Simpsons Hit and Run is arguably the first good Simpsons game since the arcade game released by Konami in the early 90s. Simpsons Hit And Run would best be described as similar to recent incarnations of Grand Theft Auto, but in Springfield. Full of cool references to the show, great graphics and sound, Simpsons Hit and Run is a treat for fans and non-fans alike.
Simpsons Hit and Run is a game based on the premise that the world of Springfield is a place apart from reality. The story is only peripherally important, for setting up the gameplay that the world that fans have come to expect will allow. Players will visit Springfield elementary, the power plant, and Cletus' house. One of the best things about the game is being able to just move around in a virtual recreation of Springfield. The graphic style manages to take a 2 dimensional animated style and marry it perfectly to a 3d style that mimics everything perfectly.
Sound is also a high point in Simpsons Hit and Run, tons of voice from the series. Voice overs are done for virtually everyone in the game and show, making the game quite immersive. Adding to the quality of the voice overs is the writing which is funny enough on its own. The music is also right on the money. Danny Elfman inspired tunes play as you bounce around town, often varying with the situation.
The Simpsons are a hard nut to crack when it comes to gameplay. The show is ideal for a game, but how to handle the subject matter in a manner that is both fun, and true to the show is difficult. Radical has managed to keep the game fun and true to the show. The Grand Theft Auto inspired gameplay allows for a great reign of freedom in which to journey around Springfield, and gives a enough structure to keep the player intrigued. The player will take on the roles of many members of the family and a few other characters through the game. The game often gives the player options and time to go about Springfield carrying out missions, with the occasional timed mission thrown in.
Bounding about Springfield on foot, in the Plow King's plow, or in Chester Lampwick's rocket car is quite a blast. Thankfully the game is more than just running around Springfield and presents the game a variety of missions and choices. Simpsons Hit and Run is easy to recommend to a fan, and is certainly worth a look to those new to The Simpsons.

Simpsons Hit and Run

Strengths: Great music. Very entertaining to watch someone play.

Weakness: You really have to read the instructions to know what to do.

This is a really entertaining game, espcially if you enjoy watching the Simpsons. My 4 year old grandson likes to just drive the cars around and run into things. My 17 year old daughter also enjoys the game she is who i bought it for.

Grand Theft Auto: Springfield

Saying "the best Simpsons video game" used to be kind of like saying "the best-smelling sewer" ... the franchise had consistently horrible play control and graphics, terrible game design, and no real understanding of the Simpsons characters or why anyone would want to step into their shoes. Above all, it never seemed to occur to them that, rather than just copying popular games and sticking the Simpsons into them, they should find a genre actually appropriate for the characters.

Well, Simpsons Hit & Run still doesn't quite give you the experience of "playing an episode" that the fans really want, but it's as close as they're likely to get.

Strange security cameras have appeared all over Springfield, and the Simpson family is drawn by a series of coincidences into investigating them. As Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and for some reason Apu explore the city, they find that the whole town is going crazy, and it's up to them to stop it. The investigation consists of several chapters, each chapter consisting of a variety of missions for the same character. These missions usually (but not always) involve skillfully driving a variety of vehicles through the streets of Springfield, either racing the clock, collecting objects, or forcing an enemy vehicle to stop.

If this sounds a little familiar, it's because it is. This is the Simpsons version of Grand Theft Auto (and, thus, a great alternative for parents who are looking for a version of that game that doesn't involve selling drugs and murdering people). The Simpsons still steal cars pretty freely, but it's for the good of the town, and running someone over or wreaking too much havoc results in an unwelcome visit from Police Chief Wiggum.

The good side? The game's playable, fun, and it's the first Simpsons game that kind of makes you feel like you're actually in Springfield interacting with these characters.

The Simpsons Hit & Run for Nintendo GameCube

Strengths: Great use of the Simpsons license, borrows heavily from Grand Theft Auto, one of a kind on gamecube

Weakness: The camera doesn't always follow action as smoothly as it should

Overall, this is a great game, filling a genre (Grand Theft Auto) that both the PS2 and XBox have. You get to play around in Springfield with all of the characters from the Simpsons, what could be better? If you like GTA, the Simpsons, or both, you owe it to yourself to pick this game up!
